Celtic have been forced to quickly delete a controversial tweet via their account which left their fans furious on Friday.
The Bhoys fanbase have rightly lashed out at the Scottish Premiership outfit with one of their latest official posts going down horrendously online.
It was an ‘On this day’ feature where it explains Celtic won their first ever major trophy on this day back in 1892 – a positive story in itself.
However, the graphic that accompanies it has produced fans to be angry, irritated and left scratching their heads.
Here’s the deleted Celtic tweet for anyone who missed it.

A club open to all, to feed the poor of Glasgow, back when we won our first trophy and beyond. The graphic today advertises the UK’s number one debt recovery specialists in what has to be called a tone-deaf move as described by fan site CeltsAreHere.
They add: “Debt companies pile misery on the poor, add stress and pressure on people already at breaking point. While these exist, we do not as a club need to be advertising their existence in any way shape or form.
“Celtic are a club of compassion, a club open to all and a club that was born in the community with fundamental charitable roots. This is not acceptable and any ties with this company should be quickly severed.
“Celtic Supporter Liasion Officer, John Paul Taylor did lend some context but it’s not good enough from the club who should be vetting anyone they advertise.”
JP said on social media:” Tbh, I think this is ad space which is sold by an independent company”
CeltsAreHere added: “If this isn’t the last time the debt company is advertised with the club, there will be even more of an uproar.”
Fans reacted with Celtic forced to quickly delete their tweet…
@KierenLaverty: @CelticFCSLO surely we shouldn’t be associating ourselves with debt collectors considering our founding values and continuous support for those growing up in deprivation? Another example of how the @CelticFC board are out of touch with its fan base.
@matthewlee2: Why have Celtic entered into a sponsorship arrangement with a debt collection agency? That’s so far away from the founding ethos of the club. I’m astonished.
@MrCheshington: Debt collectors? Do the board just sit at a table trying to think of ways they can be as far removed from the fans as possible? This season has been one horrible decision after another.
@BenTheTim: A football club will be formed for the maintenance of dinner tables for the children and the unemployed, and if they don’t pay we’ll send the UK’s number one debt collectors after them.
@Seanbhoy94: The clubs so out of touch from its roots it’s unreal!
@ripvanjim: BPO Collections? Seriously?
@petermacdonald5: My season ticket won’t be getting renewed unless there’s an apology. Today . I know this means nothing to celtic or the fans on here but I’ve had enough and it’s all I can do to show my utter disgust at whats happening at OUR club
@_Lennon1967: Celtic deleting the 110 tweet with the debt collection company really sums up our whole year, embarrassing start to finish
@DrMacolla: Absolutely disgusting.
@NotoriousBAG_: Celtic have delete that tweet with the debt recovery sponsor now. Good. While I appreciate the need for corporate sponsorship, it’s important that we are selective in who we allow to be associated with us as a club, they must not go against the values of the club.
@darren6015: It shouldn’t be linked with the club in any way at all JP. This only highlights the fans concerns over how far removed the current board are from the club values. Disgusting.
@paullarkin74: Once again @CelticFCSLO has to tidy up the mess of others.
@bras68: Celtic deleting the tweet after the backlash from the fans.They really are so out of touch with us right now, massive own goal yet again from the social media guys
@jaimelawson08: I think it would be better for the club to put up a tweet explaining instead of using you to do it for them JP. If it’s a genuine mistake then the club should be explained instead of using others like yourself JP & players etc like they have been doing all season
@jkyaldi: Celtic deleting a tweet advertising a debt collection agency is going straight into the 2020/21 highlights DVD.
