Days after the Carabao Cup Third Round draw was made, Sky Sports have selected the round’s matches and there is one tie that not everyone expected to be chosen, the other one however was guessed as soon as it was drawn out.
In total, two ties have been chosen, two of the teams are from the Premier League and the other two are from League One. One match will be played on a Tuesday and the other being on the Wednesday as usual.

THE SELECTIONS:
– PORTSMOUTH v SOUTHAMPTON (7:45pm kick off, Tuesday 24th September)
– MK DONS v LIVERPOOL (7:45pm kick off, Wednesday 25th September)
All Carabao Cup matches will take place the week commencing Monday the 23rd of September.

PRIZE MONEY:
The FA Cup and EFL Trophy offer sizeable financial rewards for clubs from the early stages meaning there is no prize money available in the Carabao Cup until the semi-final stage.
Even then, the losing semi-finalists only pocket £25,000 each while the overall runner-up takes a prize pot of £50,000. The tournament’s winner is handed a final prize of £100,000.
Clubs can make revenue through the tv selections and revenue.

Round one: Week commencing Monday 12 August (Portsmouth v Birmingham played on 6th August)
Round two: Week commencing Monday 26 August.
Round three: Week commencing Monday 23 September.
Round four: Week commencing Monday 28 October.
Quarter-finals: Week commencing Monday 16 December.
Semi-finals: Week commencing Monday 6 January (first leg) and Monday, 27 January (second leg).
Final: Sunday 1 March.
