Can Arsenal really win the Premier League?

With the conclusion of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which provided us with an epic final that saw Argentina and France slug it out until the end with the South Americans prevailing as victors in a tense penalty shoot-out, eyes will be starting to turn on club football with many leagues around Europe set to resume after a six-week hiatus.

The Premier League is one of those leagues, with fans from all around the world continuing to tune in and watch the action that takes place on the field each time a matchday takes place. And, with how good this year’s competition has been so far, it would not be a surprise if many were paying a little more attention than normal as we head into the festive season.

Arsenal are one of the teams that have made the 2022/23 Premier League season a little more exciting as they performing beyond anybody’s preseason expectations. Not many would have had the team being League leaders at any point of the season, let alone at Christmas, however will they be able to remain there for the remainder of the season?

Will Arsenal end the season as Premier League Champions?

Of course, given the fast start that Mikel Arteta’s side have had, there will have been many that will have backed them to be crowned champions at the end of the season, although there may be some that might be thinking that it could be a great time to cash out their bets given some of the news that has emerged from the club. While the former Manchester City forward has, arguably, been ineffective for the Gunners in the lead up to the major event this winter, he did have an instant impact for the club after arriving in North London. Should the Gunners find a replacement for him in January, or if another striker can step up, then they may be okay, however they will have rivals waiting in the wings.

Manchester City will not give up the fight

Manchester City will naturally be lurking in the wings waiting for Arsenal to slip up, with players like Erling Haaland being fresh after spending the last six weeks watching many of his colleagues playing at the World Cup.

The Norwegian striker was in red-hot form before the break, as he scored 18 goals in 13 matches since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, wowing everyone with his performances and his ability to find the back of the net as often as he has. We can only imagine how eager he is to return to the pitch and start scoring again!

Not all is lost for Arsenal

However, with all that said, the Gunners have a number of players that have been able to show that they are not just a one-man team, and they have had stars of their own that have not been at the World Cup, either.

Furthermore, with literally anything possible on the pitch and plenty more football still left to be played between now and the end of the season, there is no reason not to think that Arsenal can not end the season as Premier League champions.
