Bromley player banned from all football activity after placing huge number of bets over eight years

Bromley have issued a club statement today after it was announced that player George Porter has admitted a Football Association betting misconduct charge after passing match information on to others, who then placed bets.

During the time of when he placed the bets across eight years, he played for Leyton Orient, Colchester, AFC Wimbledon, Rochdale, Dagenham & Redbridge and Welling within the specific dates of the charge.

Bromley wrote on their club website: “George Porter has been charged by the Football Association for a Breach of FA Rules Betting E8 – Misconduct under FA Rule E1(b) in respect of 473 bets placed on football matches between 13 December 2011 and 12 May 2019.

“The player has admitted the charge and a paper hearing has been requested. As a result, the player at present has been suspended from all football and football related activity by the Football Association.

“Until the written reasons from the hearing have been published, Bromley FC, George Porter and The FA are unable to release any further details relating to the charge at this stage.”
