Braintree Town have recently confirmed the appointment of Glen Driver as their new first team manager.
He becomes the Essex side’s seventh manager since 2015 and replaces Danny Searle after he left them for Aldershot Town last month.
He spent the last three seasons at Leiston. In his first season, they missed out on a play-off place by two points, but secured a spot then missed out on promotion to the National League South, losing to Dulwich Hamlet at the end of 2017/2018 season.
Last season, he had a good start before deciding to step away from the Suffolk club after they ‘advised him that it was not geared for promotion’.

Chairman Lee Harding said on the appointment: “Once again we have been spoilt with the calibre of applicants. All of those on our short-list were very able and have had success, but we were impressed with Glen’s footballing philosophy. He has an excellent network of contacts in the game at our level and is also keen to work with the Club as we build for the future. I am confident that he will play a pivotal role in working with our new youth sides to provide a link for those up and coming players to progress into the first team squad.”
Glen Driver also added: “Really looking forward to it and I’m meeting players from tomorrow onwards. We’ve got two weeks of tough pre-season training before we get stuck into the pre-season matches. I’m also keen to meet the supporters. I’m not going to make outrageous promises other than we’ll work hard for you all and give you 100%.”
After learning that Braintree Town have appointed Glen Driver as their new manager, the non league community took to the club’s social media page to give their reaction, the majority happy – find out what they had to say on the next page.
