‘Born in the UK, you’ll never sing that’ – Ipswich fans taunt Luton with racist chants

Luton Town supporters had multiple racist abuse from Ipswich Town fans when the two sides met for the Carabao Cup clash on Tuesday night.

The chants of “Born in the UK, you’ll never sing that” as well as “Boris Johnson, he’s coming for you” caused outrage on social media.

“Brexit means Brexit” and “You gotta live here, we get to go home” were others jibes directed at the Hatters fans from the packed out away end.

Luton’s most infamous fan, the former English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson, is currently serving a nine month jail sentence for contempt of court.

He nearly causes a sex abuse trial to collapse by showing defendants in his Facebook Live video outside Leeds Crown Court.

Along with the racist chants, one Ipswich fan Tom Smith, Twitter handle: @itfctsmith2004, criticised the town by saying: “Full of Muslims mate not good. Feels like your on holiday when you go there.”

Luton of course had the last laugh as they knocked out the Tractorboys and Bedfordshire Police confirmed there were no arrests at the match.

IPSWICH TOWN STATEMENT:

Town secretary Stuart Hayton told the Club website said: “The facts confirm that our supporters are among the best behaved in the country and have been for many years.

“That said, we have been informed of alleged racist chants made by a small number of our fans at Kenilworth Road and we are working with Luton on what is an on-going matter.

“We have shown in the past that we will act strongly against anyone found to have conducted themselves in an offensive or anti-social manner both at games and with comments on social media and that will remain the Club’s policy.”

After finding out on the chants sang to Luton fans by Ipswich, fans took to slam the culprits for what happened – check out what they had to say on the next page.
