Boreham Wood have been mocked by fans on social media over their bizarre announcement saying they are parting with stadium caterers.
A brief statement was published by the club, being viewed millions of times over the weekend, but little did they realise just how much reaction it would get in the hours and days that followed.
@BOREHAM_WOODFC wrote on Saturday: “ℹ️ Boreham Wood FC have made the decision to part company with this season’s Stadium caterers with immediate effect
“🤝 We wish them and their staff well in their future endeavours #WeAreTheWood”
Some fans joked, suggesting the National League club forgot that April Fools pranks stopped at 12pm that day. Ultimately, it’s a shame that some staff members have lost their jobs here.
They are seemingly been replaced with this stall, selling a ‘snack bag’ including a bottle of water, a packet of crisps, a mars bar and Oreo cookies.

Chloe’s Pies & Bagels commented: “Hello, I would like to thank everybody for the support we received from the fans, for the short time we were at Boreham Wood FC. As I’m sure you will agree there are 2 sides to every story and because there is now going to be a court case, I have been advised by our solicitor to pass no comment.
“I wish Boreham Wood all the best and hope that they get to the play offs, I also wish whoever is going to take from us all the luck in the world.
“The fans are amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed working there, saying that I am very relieved this contract has ended. SKY, BBC & BT have taken the decision to continue using our services.
“Good luck in the coming weeks, from the bottom of my heart I hope the club does well and gets to the playoffs. Linzi xx “
This is what fans said with Boreham Wood mocked over the bizarre announcement parting with their stadium caterers…
@Manaagh: A sauce close to the club says the salad dressing room had been disillusioned with the matchday preparation for some time
@Jackalbion96: Hahaha I genuinely think the Bovril last week had legionnaires disease on Tuesday.
@TJMsCorner: Announced it like they’ve sacked their gaffer
@InForABenny: What am I missing here? Was there a scandal of some kind? Why would they announce this like they’ve sacked their manager
@Established1890: They must be producing some seriously bad grub #disc
@colonel_nutz: This is what happens when it feels like you’ve lost the dressings room…
@dan_torquay_man: No surprise as on Tuesday the burger van had not burgers and they evens messed up @BakersTweet Bovril. How do you mess up a Bovril!!!!
@NCAFC__Ben: Well this has to be a first 😂
@formularhi: What did they do? Poison everyone?
@GoldstoneTweets: As an erstwhile customer, I wholeheartedly endorse this decision. But those 30 minute waits for a half-time burger were all worth it to see this genius tweet go viral.
@robwattsf1: Fascinated to know why they felt a public statement was needed for this!
@DonLtfc: Gutted 💔 good scran at Boreham wood couple seasons back in pre season
@CymruOllie: I have NEVER seen a club sack its catering staff before. I don’t even know if it’s an April fools, I genuinely hope it’s not.
@ALD1878X: What have they done for this to be with immediate effect? Poisoned everyone? 😭😭😭
@Manaagh: A sauce close to the club says the salad dressing room had been disillusioned with the matchday preparation for some time
@cfctraviss: did they poison everyone to be fired with “immediate effect” 😭
@Jolomoco: Needed to happen, unfortunately. Wanted an upgrade as an AWFC fan and the progress being made but sadly ended up a notable downgrade this season. Hopefully something really good will take its place to meet the need and quality expected. Good veggie/vegan options please!!!
@AbbyStevens22: To be fair a basic burger cost £7! And for a non-league club as well! Hope the next caterers are an improvement
@SmoothinPedally: Struggled with defrosting in time for kick off apparently.
@BenKirb2803: I personally wouldn’t get rid, but Boreham Would…
@brien_del: Food was obviously awful
@BlueDanEFC: @SkyBet have you a market for ‘next permanent Boreham Wood caterers’?
@Barrymccarthy: No loyalty in the game anymore.
@SpireiteC: Give it to big Sam till the end of the season
@eddscicluna: Imagine firing your stadium caterers and treating it like sacking the manager 😂
@sidneyb: Food Poisoning FC ……worse burgers than our horse meat efforts at Plough Lane back in the late 80’s
@petehotchkiss: Big Sam to come in too flip and few burgers, and fry the onions till the end of the season?
@daylr: I’ve never seen a food supplier get sacked
@awfcbread: what have they been feeding people????
@bfdbannon: This is why the national league is the best in the world, thought the manager got the boot for a second
@h6vry: Could of just said “burger off!”
@OnceADagger: As someone still scarred by last season’s away game I wholeheartedly endorse this decision.
@_billyreid: Hello @RequestABet could I get the latest odds on Boreham Wood’s next stadium caterers
@ZG1999_:
Sack rating: 9.5/10
– Club flag? Amazing
– part company? Amazing
– immediate effect? AMAZING
– this content? Just, amazing
– not a fan of wish them well
