Blackpool release hilarious new kit launch video with players’ acting ridiculed

Blackpool release a hilarious new home kit launch video with the players’ acting joking described as ‘oscar-worthy’ on Thursday.

A video, which was just over a minute long, showed three players sat in the dressing room talking, but a storage container on wheels was pushed by someone though you can’t see them.

It stops in the centre of the room, leaving the players confused and asking “What’s that then?!”.

The trio walk over to take a look, they open it up and a bright light beams out of it, leaving the players surprised. Richard Keogh’s face and acting skills leaving many fans watching from their devices in stitches.

The camera continues to pan on the players’ faces, before they find the new home kit, before picking it out. One of the kits is worn and they go on to talk about how good they think it is.

The video ended and then the club’s notifications blew up with the clip getting over 10,000 views within minutes, leading to hundreds of thousands moments later. Take a look at it for yourselves…

CLUB STATEMENT:

Blackpool Football Club is delighted to unveil the new home kit for the upcoming 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Modelled on a retro design from the 1980’s, the new kit has been brought into the modern day by PUMA with their Re-Tex Fabric material. The shirt features a ribbed collar and cuffs, and the iconic 1989 pattern with a modern design twist and premium technology for elite performance.

Home kits will be on sale from 10am tomorrow (Friday) in-store and online, with junior shirts priced at £35 and adult shirts at £50.

Supporters will be able to see the new kit in action for the first time in tonight’s pre-season friendly against Leeds United.

Match passes for the fixture are available to be purchased here.

This comes just hours after former Seasiders boss Neil Critchley broke his silence following his shock move from Blackpool to Aston Villa.

“It was (very quick),” he said to Villa TV.

“I was actually on holiday at the time. It happened really fast, it was unexpected and it never really gave me a chance to say ‘thank you’ to Blackpool, which is really important to me.

“The opportunity they gave me, from the owner Simon Sadler to Ben Mansford and Brett Gerrity, I had a fantastic time there and I had incredible support from the players and the supporters.

“It was a really big decision, but the chance to work with Steven and the staff and the opportunity to come to the Premier League and work for a club like Aston Villa I felt was the right thing to do.”

Blackpool fans was rather confused at Critchley’s decision to ‘step down’ from a number one position to become Gerrard’s assistant.

Critchley was speaking during an interview with Villa TV

However Critchley, said he doesn’t see it that way.

“Whether I’m a number one or a number two, I don’t see it like that. I just see it being part of a management team,” he said.

“I was part of a management team at Blackpool, but it just so happened I was the number one. But previous to that in my previous roles, as long as you have the respect and the trust of the people around you, you feel valued and you’ve got a sense of belonging, then that doesn’t matter to me.

“I know I will be in a similar position here, so it wasn’t a problem for me.”

He couldn’t turn down the chance to work with Gerrard for a second time in his career.

He added: “I worked with Steven previously for about 18 months at Liverpool and with the type of person he is and the type of football he wants to play, it’s obviously a big draw.

“But also the staff he’s got with him and the previous working relationships I had with them, it makes it a little bit easier making those decisions.

“But the facilities here, the players here and the ambition of the club, it was a big incentive for me.”

Critchley added: “Everyone has made me feel very welcome.

“It’s been a bit hectic, a bit of a whirlwind. I keep getting lost around the training ground still, but I’m settling in really well.

“I obviously know some of the staff here really well from previous years and I’ve been made to feel very welcome here, so I feel comfortable being here and I’ve really enjoyed the first few days getting to know the players and staff.”
