Blackpool fans took to throw objects at the Preston players during their goading goal celebrations in Saturday afternoon’s big win.
Just eight minutes in, and with their first proper attack, it was Blackpool who got into the area and Johnson shoots low towards Woodman’s near post with his left foot and it came back off the woodwork.
Then shortly after, a cross into the box was cleared only as far as Potts inside the area and he unleashed a belting strike into the bottom left corner.
Potts then ran and celebrates in front of the Blackpool fans, with a number of items chucked, luckily avoiding striking any players.
WOW! WHAT A START! 🤯

The mid-way trough the first half, the hosts doubled their lead, Preston midfielder Ben Whiteman curling the ball over the wall and low into the net past Maxwel, who was expecting him to cross it!
Again, the players were in the direction of Blackpool fans and celebrated, rubbing it in their faces.
A clever set piece and wonderful execution from Whiteman with Mick McCarthy’s side having it all to do.

It was game over in the 51st minute, the points and bragging rights all going to Preston as they made it 3-0 thanks Tom Cannon’s goal.
Preston counter on Blackpool and Cannon received the ball in the area. He opened up his body and slots a shot in off the right post.
Then in the 89th minute, Blackpool got one back, but it was all too late. Bowler whipped a dangerous low ball across the box and Jerry Yates was in the right place in the middle for the finish.

Yates pulls one back… is there enough time for a late comeback? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/L91OelxI7p

Preston’s Ryan Lowe: “We deserved a clean sheet, but we’ve got the bragging rights for our fans, and our performance warranted that. I’m buzzing for the fans. As derbies go, it was frantic at times of course, but I’m delighted for the lads because they’ve shown loads of commitment and character.
“It was going to be crucial, whoever got the first goal, so for us to get it so early was great. After that, the lads carried out the game plan superbly. I didn’t want any sloppiness to creep in, and I don’t think it did until they scored right at the end maybe. We know it’s so tough to stay in and around the chasing pack, but that’s what we’ll try and do.”
Blackpool’s Mick McCarthy: “I believe we’ve got the fight and determination to survive, but it’s whether we’ve got the quality. We’ve not taken our chances, we’ve conceded another three goals today, and we’re not helping ourselves.
“We are under pressure we know that, and we’re trying our very best to stay in the league. We’ll be back in again on Monday, and back in the oven again. You’ve got to make sure the lads are ready to play at the level of the Championship and recognise that we’ve still got games coming thick and fast. We’ve got more proper scraps like this to come – that’s the way the Championship is. I’m bitterly disappointed for everyone, that’s for us and all the fans who turned up. They will have expected more.”
This is what Twitter users said as Blackpool fans throw objects at Preston players during the goading goal celebrations in what was a big win for the Lilywhites…
@LiamQui11340750: Blackpool get battered everywhere they go 🤣🤣🤣
@oliviamill27: Big scenes at Deepdale 😍😍😍😍 #pnefc
@CasualsNorthern: No mercy. Finish this lot off. #pnefc
@dougie_fresh: Pottsy folded their defender like a fucking deckchair. Lovely stuff #pnefc
@cncpnefc: That celebration from Potts 🔥 🐐 #pnefc
@StrangewayWill: Potts man 😂 bags a screamer. Celebrates in-front of his former fans. Then puts a Blackpool player in stands. Changing my fucking name me
@Jakebcfc_: Some celebration that, balls of granite 🤣
@ohjoewalker: Imagine scoring a derby goal like that
@C_Scott0310: Fuck of Potts you cunt! Celebrating infront of the blackpool fans! Cunt
@NiallJS: One of my favourite days at Deepdale that! What an atmosphere! #pnefc
@thejdtucker: Bradley Potts. Have my children, bank account, house, everything… take it all
@tomp_5: Well that was piss-easy 😂. They’re the worst team and quietest set of fans I’ve seen at Deepdale for a long time! #pnefc
@joeyrex: Like a lot of Blackpool fans absolutely bewildered by the tactics 1st half which is where the games lost. This defensive hoofball mindset hasn’t worked once since Mick came in and he has to take responsibility for that. Better technical players left on the bench is unforgivable.
@Supergrampspete: That was awful. How the hell does CJ start every game. Him and Anderson were laughing when sat on the bench. Povada should have started.
@Nathan200515: Dougall shouldn’t be a footballer, Hamilton has the technical ability of an orange and Keshi has just come back from a big injury and starts against our rivals, it’s laughable, second half was better and Maxwell should be out now, he stands still on his line 😂😂
@povey_maxwell: Sack them all, not fit to wear the shirt
@dan_masonn01: Most embarrassing Blackpool team I’ve seen, no fight, nothing, off you go Mick take half the squad with you, outplayed and just bullied all over the park
@CBR994: I can forgive lack of talent, but this lot today didn’t put it in the line for the club and fans, the body language and grins from the players when losing was a disgrace, we never invested in the final third, and now we are reaping what we have sown. 👎
