Blackburn fans leave stadium 25 minutes before end of thrashing against Preston

A large amount of Blackburn Rovers fans chose to leave the stadium 25 minutes before the end of their thrashing against Preston North End.

The Championship was back in action on Saturday, and the first game underway was a Lancashire derby, televised on Sky Sports.

It took 17 minutes for Preston to take the lead at a snowy Ewood Park after a slick move caught Blackburn cold.

Ryan Ledson won the ball on the halfway line and played a really clever ball into Ched Evans, who looked up and located Ben Woodburn, whose composed finish from inside the box beat Thomas Kaminski.

The away side’s second goal came minutes into the second half, helped after a poor backpass which almost allowed Daniel Johnson to score, with the hosts playing the ball out from the back again.

Ben Woodburn was fouled, but the referee played the advantage, allowing Johnson to square for Ched Evans to sweep home his 100th goal in English league football.

Just as the snow came down harder and heavier, Ben Whiteman took aim as Preston looked for a third, but the ball bounced across the face of goal, close.

In the 55h minute, a surprise goal for Blackburn gave some fans belief they could see a comeback.

Hayden Carter went down the right and sends up a cross to the back post, where Ben Brereton Diaz kept the ball alive and hooked it to Bradley Dack, who found the net

Then there was a vital stop from Thomas Kaminski, who tipped a fierce drive from Brad Potts over the bar. Already, the game was set for an exciting end.

Ched Evans, a man in form, restored his side’s two goal cushion as Greg Cunningham whipped in a peach of a ball from the left flank, with North End’s No 9 rising to plant a header into the bottom left corner.

Almost straight after, Preston added a fourth – and this was a work of art!

Alvaro Fernandez took charge of the ball on the left and struck a low cross, which Daniel Johnson teed up for Ben Whiteman to stroke home with the deftest of touches

Blackburn fans by this point were pouring out of Ewood Park in their droves…

By the 80th minute, the snow had been starting to settle on the pitch, with Preston not wanting the afternoon to end early, especially after the performance their side put in.

The full time whistle blew on an emphatic win for Preston in the snow at Ewood Park. They take all three points in this Lancashire derby.

This is how Twitter users reacted as Blackburn fans leave their stadium 25 minutes before the end of the thrashing against Preston…

@lukebed79: Blackburn rovers 3rd in the league get booed off at halftime and then the fans start to leave the stadium after 60 odd minutes and i thought some of our fans are bad lol

@MarlonSavoini: Jon Dahl sat on bench 4-1 down given up all hope and fight πŸ˜‚ things you love to see. All Blackburn fans before season calling Jon Dahl a β€œserial winner” πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ you’re the shit of Lancashire. Literally.

@MarlonSavoini: 4-1 πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ hahahahahahahahahaha fucking brilliant from Preston. All those Blackburn fans giving it big licks before the game like they did with Burnley hahah
JON DAHLS AT THE WHEEL

@CasualsNorthern: Ben Woodburn has been outstanding. Saw a glimpse at Coventry. Been great today. All of them have to be fair #pnefc

@grogan6: That’s some result that. Played Blackburn off the park at times. Big win #PNEFC

@tomp_5: Quite astonishing that our best performance of the season has come when we have so many key players out. Fair to say the likes of Woodburn, Ledson and DJ took their opportunity today πŸ‘ #pnefc

@PNEhomeandaway: Where’s the Ched haters at πŸ˜‰πŸ€£ #pnefc

@crazypedro91: Preston North End fans: Singing footballs coming home 1-4 up at Ewood Park v Blackburn Rovers.

@AshWWoolford: Blackburn fans must be sick to death of teams turning up in all yellow.

@odb1912: Gotta feel for blackburn fans 4 weeks waiting for the championship to be back and they do this πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Β

@TomHarrisonLaw: What an absolute masterclass today from #pnefc v Rovers. Arguably the performance of the season so far as a team and also individually from Ched Evans who has bullied the opposition defence today. #pne

@AdamMasefield: Well I know something 4-1, would not like to be a Blackburn fan right now. What goes around comes around 😍 #pnefc #brfc

@deckleston: Really see #pnefc going up this season. Fancy them a lot. Not even disappointed to see a local rjval doing well as my grandson supports them! Go preston! #wafc

@prestonjord: By the way.. that’s the most complete number 9 performance I’ve seen in a long term. Viva Ched Evans #pnefc

@RazinaU_: JDTs doing this. We had no idea from second one. This can’t happen against both Burnley and Preston. Was absolutely disgraceful. Dack was the only player who looked remotely arsed. Absolutely shocking performance #Rovers

@matt_cooper85: Lost all confidence in JDT. He speaks well but unwilling/unable to adapt making it very easy for teams. Blackburn Rovers have always played on the front foot. Win, lose or draw. This ball retention bollocks is embarrassing and costs us most games. #Rovers

@Joe_moss95: What the fuck was that. I’m on the verge of thinking JDT should be sacked. This playing out from the back needs to be stopped it’s shocking. People backing him and his style of play baffles me. #rovers

@Terrythepin: Watching us today just felt different! Rovers are a dangerous team, and we just shut them down while looking awesome going forward! Nice work RL letting them kids experience a big derby win! #pnefc

@SalfordRover: JDT out? No. He needs to have a serious conversation with himself about this playing out from the back though, it’s nice, if you have the players to do it, we don’t! Bring on the French! πŸ’ͺ🏻 #Rovers
