A Birmingham City steward has gone viral as he walks onto the pitch mid-game to clear tennis balls thrown in protest by the home fans.
The moment came just as Luton Town were on the attack, getting the ball into the penalty area before the game is stopped and the away side’s players’ are left angered by the sudden halt in play.

I can’t stop watching this hahahaha it’s the way he stops to let the player past and then carries on🤣🤣 #BCFC pic.twitter.com/RoBrzbhy2b

As can be seen in the clip above, Nathan Jones’ side were on the edge of the Birmingham box at St Andrews as Elijah Adebayo held the ball up before searching for an option.
As he got the ball under control, a steward randomly thought it was a good time to just walk onto the pitch to pick up the ball thrown on by a supporter earlier in the game.
This resulted in Adebayo stopping the attack, where he threw his arms to the side as he visibly frustrated. The Birmingham players didn’t seem too amused either.

Birmingham supporters have been staging protests against the club’s parent company – the Hong Kong-based Birmingham Sports Holdings Ltd (BSHL) for a while now.
BSHL is controlled by businessman Paul Suen via a network of companies registered in the British Virgin Islands.
Furious Blues fans last month set off flares outside St Andrew’s during a huge protest ahead of their 2-1 victory over Barnsley.
As the blue smoke filled the air, banners were held with fans making their feelings known to the owners in the stands.

One huge one was emblazoned ‘mis-management and no trust’, while another read: “Our club has a history of generations.
“Mismanagement is unacceptable, the supporters won;t tolerate it any longer.
Birmingham fans’ patience is wearing thin after what they claim is five years of stagnation at the club.
Much of St Andrew’s is in a state of disrepair and closed off to spectators, while Lee Bowyer’s squad also continues to crumble.
The Blues currently sit 17th in the Championship with just one win in their last five.
“BSHL it’s time to sell. You’ve embarrassed the club enough.”
Twitter users reacted as a Birmingham steward walks onto pitch mid-game to clear tennis balls thrown in protest…
@SueMasonBurns: That is possibly the most pathetic thing I have ever seen
@noelward197: This is comedy you couldn’t write 😂😂😂😂
@RailwayEnd: Just woken up from a great dream. Blues won 3-0, looked comfortable, and played some decent football. There was even a funny bit where a steward ran on the pitch and stopped a Luton attack. Now, what time does the actual game kick off? #BCFC
@Rowley68: Brilliant all round performance from #BCFC today but I’m giving MOTM award to the K2 steward
@princeofbrum: That steward has better positional awareness than any of our defenders. #BCFC
@BluesAnalytics_: That K2 steward stopping the Luton attack just then is already our best defender of the season. #bcfc #BSHLOUT
@PaulCasey79: 25 tennis balls. That’ll show the owners… Defo sell up this week!
@RunJamieHarper: Great defending from the steward lmao #bcfc #BSHLOUT
@Denning52: Get that steward in our defence immediately #bcfc
@beaubrummie11: Not sure he’s gonna be picking up his minimum wage next home game but he’s already a legend.
@DajerbalJames: Right how the fuck are we smuggling these tennis balls then #bcfc
@markyoddbod: Was it even worth the effort. Don’t they know it’s cabbages you need.
@LutonNews_LTFC: Now a steward bizarrely goes on to the pitch to get one of the balls while Adebayo is attacking, Gets close enough to tackle him almost, drop-ball signalled by the referee.
@NOTWHOlUSEDTOBE: fair play to the steward. helping the cause lol #BSHLOUT #BSHLTIMETOGO #BSHLTIMESUP #BSHLLEAVE #BSHLSELLUP #BCFC #KRO
@Kenny_Miller51: That’ll show them 🥊🤣
@Paulo_Macdonald: As protests go……..🤭
@ShooterRoss: Shouldn’t take too long to pick 17 tennis balls up.
@willviles: Great job…keeping up the momentum! #BSHLOUT
@mindofi17: Three tennis balls into block 9, really overestimated my ability to throw here 😂 #bcfc
