Birmingham City fans say they have been left baffled by Jack Wilshere’s admission on talkSPORT over not being liked by them.
With the player, who last played for Championship outfit Bournemouth, still searching for a new club, he has been doing various things to keep in the limelight with one of them being on the radio.
He was in the studio for talkSPORT Drive earlier this week and opened up on why he thought he wasn’t popular with the Blues faithful.
Wilshere said: “I’m not very liked at Birmingham City.”
When asked what did he do, he responded: “Someone sent me a picture of me crying after the game [League Cup final], and a Birmingham fan sent me ‘have you got over this yet?’ and I tweeted him back saying ‘Yeah I have but you’re club hasn’t’.
Jack grimaces to Darren Bent and Andy Goldstein in the studio who then laugh at the awkward moment, with the latter saying “lucky you just not said this on national radio then, come knocking on your door, actually we’ve changed our mind about Jack.”

Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere insists he is ‘fit, ready and available for offers…. but not from Tottenham’ as the ex-Arsenal midfielder appears in a spoof Paddy Power video advertising his services as he looks to sign for a club this month on a free.
He shared his attempt at a real-world example by saying: ‘Sorry I forgot to take the bins out this week. Wasn’t good enough, and not what the house deserves.’ Before rounding it off with: ‘We go again next week.’
Viewers of the Paddy Power clip are taken on a journey of the creation of Wilshere’s ‘digital dossier’, which sees him do keepie-uppies, eating a sandwich to symbolise his ‘hunger’ to return to football and attaching a GoPro to his head to film his breakfast.
Wilshere finally snaps and says he wants to keep things simple and in turn, he looks to the camera and says: ‘Jack Wilshere. Fit, ready and available for offers.’
Before adding: ‘Just not from Tottenham’.

A spokesperson for Paddy Power reflected on the clip and Wilshere’s involvement. They said: ‘Jack Wilshere hasn’t actually retired from football yet – who knew?! He’s still a top professional though, so we wanted to do our bit to help him get back in the game.
‘But, being pretty good at football just won’t cut it anymore – you have to excel in other areas, such as having millions of Instagram followers, or filming yourself eating breakfast for your TikTok channel.
‘Thankfully, Jack understood the need to improve his digital profile and really threw himself into the process. In fact, I’d go as far to say that his acting display was an even better performance than that night against Barcelona.’
Wilshere previously admitted that retirement had crossed his mind, but later said he felt like he could continue his career in 2022.
