Birmingham fans fight among themselves in the away end during their 2-0 defeat away to Leicester on Friday night.
The result meant it was a fourth consecutive home victory (first since April 2024) for the Foxes, who also end Birmingham’s unbeaten league run since March 4th 2025.
Goals from Abdul Fatawu (8′) and Ricardo Pereira (88′) propelled Leicester to third in the Championship, while Birmingham dropped out of the top six.
The game featured few chances, Birmingham were missing injured Jay Stansfield, and it showed, with Leicester dominated forward play and limited Chris Davies’ side to one clear opportunity.
The 2-0 win extends Leicester’s seven-game winning streak against Birmingham across all competitions.

Abdul Fatawu speaking to Sky Sports:
“It’s always amazing having this moment, it’s all about the team and how we support each other.
“I’m just happy and we look forward now to after the break and we go again.”
On playing again after his injury last season:
“I just want to say thank you to the medical team and the all of the team and my team-mates. It’s just a blessing to be back like this and running again. It’s a good feeling, thank God.”
Ricardo Pereira speaking to Sky Sports:
“It was a very good assist from Jeremy Monga. He said to him before he came on, let’s try to make the difference and he did with the perfect ball.”
On his booking earned for a reckless challenge on the edge of the area that could have been interpreted differently and led to a red card:
“I said to the ref I touched the ball but at the same time I touched him and he said it was a little bit reckless but it is what it is. Fortunately nothing happened from the free-kick and we won and that’s the most important thing.”
Birmingham boss Chris Davies has been talking to Sky Sports after their first league defeat of the season:
“We’re disappointed to lose the game – I thought we had the lion’s share of the game, were strong and dominant throughout.
“I thought we disrupted Leicester and played well with the ball until the final bit where we couldn’t create clear chances.
“A lot of it was good but it was a poor opening goal to concede although we recovered well from that but then a poor second goal to concede and it’s difficult to take.”
“I was really disappointed to lose that match. I think we conceded a poor goal to start the game, which is unlike us, but we recovered really well.
“Obviously, they’ve gone up the other end in the last moments and got a goal from the very little they had around our box.
“The players are very disappointed because they felt they deserved a lot more than what they got out of that game.
“What we’ve seen tonight is that we’ve got the ball into good areas, but we’ve got to make them defend a little better. More crosses, more box action.”
Davies told BBC Radio WM:
“I was really disappointed to lose that match. I think we conceded a poor goal to start the game, which is unlike us, but we recovered really well.

“It’s difficult to take, i’ve had to pick the players up” 😕

Leicester City head coach Marti Cifuentes speaking to Sky Sports:
“Definitely happy because it’s never easy to win in this league against a good team that has done well so far.
“We had to grind it out but at the same time credit to the players. It was a game with perhaps not many chances, we need definitely need to improve things but at the same time I see a team that has a soul, that has commitment, desire and that’s the foundation of everything that we want to build here.
“In the dynamics of the game sometimes we need to get much better, controlling the game and slowing the possession, it was not easy because Birmingham have got good players on the pitch as well.
“It was not easy for us and perhaps we need to improve, when it’s time to keep it and when it’s time to accelerate, but in terms of conceding chances it was not many, I don’t think that Jakub [Stolarczyk] had a lot of work to do.”
Cifuentes speaking to Sky Sports regarding the future of Bilal El Khannouss who was left out tonight amid transfer speculation to the Premier League:
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, what I know is that I’m happy with the victory today and let’s see what happens in the next three days.”
Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester:
“I’m happy because it’s never easy to win football games and at the same time we played against a good team that never made things easy for us.
“Overall, from the performance there are a lot of things we can improve but the main thing for me is about building culture and identity. I see that the players care, and they are showing desire and commitment and the spirit we want to have as a foundation which is very positive.
“I’m happy for the young guys and the way the experienced guys are helping. I’m happy to see the commitment from the guys from the academy who were on the bench today. That is definitely a solid foundation.”
