Astonishing scenes as Kieran Gibbs and Slaven Bilic both get sent off

Viewers witnessed astonishing scenes on Saturday’s lunchtime Premier League kick off as Kieran Gibbs and Slave Bilic both get sent off in incident.

It came late in the first half as hosts Everton took on West Bromwich Albion in the second game of the 2020/21 top flight season which didn’t disappoint for goals.

It was the newly promoted side West Brom that went ahead after 9 minutes, winning the ball back and break quickly. Summer signing Grady Diangana was allowed to carry the ball all the way through the middle and to the edge of the box as Everton’s defence backed off.

He waited for support but when it didn’t arrive in time, thinks ‘why not?’ and lashes it from 20 yards, flies past Jordan Pickford, who was very slow to react.

The Toffees equalised in the 33rd minute, but it was disallowed, before then being given via VAR. The touch off the defender means the offside is ruled out. Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it two in two for him.

10 minutes later, new signing James Rodriguez put Everton in front, and that’s why Carlo Ancelotti wanted to bring him in.

Richarlison laid it off to him in the centre. He took a touch or two, set himself up and drilled it low from outside the box and into the bottom right corner.

A moment of real quality and that’s the Colombian’s first goal in the Premier League.

Minutes after the goal, a collision with Rodriguez saw Kieran Gibbs was sent straight off. No complaints, a straight red and he’s off.

Gibbs reacted to a nudge from James Rodriguez and pushed him to the floor with two hands on his face.

Need to see another replay but the referee was convinced and showed the red card straight away.

The half time whistle blew, Slaven Bilic persisted with arguing with the referee as the players head off at half time and he’s sent to the stands.

In the 47th minute, Matheus Pereira, West Brom’s main man, couldn’t stop smiling because he stepped up to take the free-kick and curled it beautifully into the top right corner.

Nothing Jordan Pickford can do about that and 10-man West Brom are level within minutes of the second half!

Five minutes after that, Lucas Digne took a free-kick and Richarlison got his head on it. He draws a good save from Sam Johnstone but the rebound was poked in by Michael Keane from close range. Everton in front again!

The goals didn’t stop there as just under 10 minutes later, Calvert-Lewin made it 4-2 to Everton.

James Rodriguez, with the creative spark, set up another goal for his side.

He lifted the ball perfectly over the top and into the box for Richarlison, who hit it low towards the far post.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin came sliding in at the back post to poke it over the line and makes sure.

Then it was made 5-2 on the 66th minute, Calvert-Lewin bagging his hat-trick.

A corner came in from the left and the striker got there first to power it into the net.

It may have even come off his back but no one cares. There is no stopping Everton at this point and could really score many more with over 20 minutes left to play.

Richarlison thought he had made it 6-2 to Everton with an unbelievable finish on the 76th minute, however the goal was disallowed as he was offside.

Curled a cross in from the right, let it bounce once and then thumped it into the top right corner.
