Arsenal’s Pepe ended up being sent off for a disgusting headbutt towards Leeds’ Alioski during Sunday evening’s Premier League fixture.
The incident took place minutes into the second half, Ezgjan Alioski went down on the ground after a clash with Nicolas Pepe. It looks like Pepe moved his head towards Alioski’s and VAR had to take a look at it.
The referee goes to the pitchside monitor after missing the incident, and was quickly satisfied it was a sending off for Nicolas Pepe.
Just silly from the Arsenal man and the Gunners have it all to do now with the game still in play and at 0-0.
Stephen Warnock, ex-Leeds and Liverpool defender, said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “It was an incident off the ball. Pepe just pushes his head towards him and Alioski goes to ground and makes the most of it.
“He’s let his team-mates and manager down there.”

Gary Neville, on co-commentary for Sky Sports, said: “It’s Pepe and Alioski. Has Pepe reacted? He’s wandering back towards the Leeds man.
“Oh… he might be in a bit of trouble. Yes, he’s in trouble.
“He’s reacted to the initial contact and Alioski just stands his ground and the head comes towards him.
“He’s done.
“Taylor won’t duck it – Pepe may as well start walking now. There you go, one look. Gone.”
Pepe made his way off the pitch, having no complaints to having the red card shown to him before making his way up the steps back to the away dressing room.
Nicolas Pepe has been sent off for the first time in his career in the top five European leagues in what was his 146th appearance.
Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta will be fuming with Pepe, for a player to lose his cool so early in the second half, and then headbutt Alioski is just poor.
Meanwhile, Gjanni Alioski could follow the likes of Charlie Cresswell and Pascal Struijk by signing a new Leeds United contract.
The Athletic are reporting that talks over a deal are underway at Elland Road, and it would be impossible to even think of the idea of him leaving the club.
Alioski’s future has been a talking point recently. The North Macedonia international’s contract is due to expire next summer.
He has played a more peripheral role this season with the 28-year-old starting just three Premier League games, and has tended to come in when the Whites have lost players to injury.
So that may have left some supporters wondering whether his future could lie elsewhere.
However, The Athletic are now reporting that early discussions have begun. And it is suggested that an agreement is expected.
Fans quickly took to social media to react on Arsenal’s Pepe getting sent off for a disgusting headbutt towards Leeds’ Alioski, see what they had to say below…
Needless from Pepe man.
He’s one of those players I have so much hope for, I literally will him to do good, and other than a few flashes he’s just not there yet. Silly thing to do, getting sent off.
Arsenal in all sorts of trouble tonight.

Pepe, the £72m man, sent off for Arsenal. Stupid that. Can’t use your head, however minimal it was.

Doesn’t matter it’s still a clear red card

Arsenal finally getting some consistency from Pepe as he gets himself banned for the next three games
— James Benge (@jamesbenge) November 22, 2020
Am I the only rival fan genuinely just pissed off at how soft and pathetic the game is now? Yes it’s stupid and unprofessional but ffs I would far rather the Leeds defender just shoved him back or got in his face than dive like that.

I really wanted Pepe to do well today, it was such a big chance for him, and he’s blown it in the most idiotic way.
As a signing it’s well and truly tipped over into disaster territory now.

I’ve had it with Pepe. Nothing to do with transfer fee, just not good enough overall. Way too inconsistent.
