Appeals were made against the red cards for West Brom’s Darnell Furlong and Hull’s Joao Pedro over the weekend.
Both of them have been unsuccessful however, with both players now set to miss the next three games.
“West Bromwich Albion have appealed against the red card shown to Darnell Furlong in the Sky Bet Championship win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday”, the Baggies said in a statement.
“The 29-year-old was sent off in the first half of the Baggies’ 1-0 victory at The Hawthorns.
“Albion have submitted a claim of wrongful dismissal to the Football Association.”
They added: “Albion have been unsuccessful in their appeal against the red card shown to Darnell Furlong in Saturday’s game against Queens Park Rangers.
“The 29-year-old will now serve a three-game suspension and is next available for the Sky Bet Championship fixture against Sunderland on Saturday, April 5.”

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray had initially said post-match they may lodge an appeal against Darnell Furlong’s sending off after they beat QPR 1-0 at The Hawthorns.
Furlong was deemed to have used his elbow in stoppage time at the end of the first half after Adam Armstrong’s penalty had put the hosts ahead.
“It happened right in front of me. Darnell tried to block the guy, there was no elbow, but the lad tried to duck under his shoulder to avoid the block and caught his face on the top of Darnell’s arm,” Mowbray said per BBC Sport.
“I’m not sure any of the officials saw it. I would suggest it was really harsh and I’m sure we will look to appeal it.”
Meanwhile, Hull Daily Mail reported that Hull City had appealed the red card handed to Joao Pedro in the first half of the 1-1 draw at Bristol City.
The club later tweeted: “We can confirm that our appeal against João Pedro’s red card has been unsuccessful.
“João will now miss our next three league matches.”

Expecting full confirmation from Ruben Selles later when we speak to him, but I believe Hull City have lodged an appeal on Joao Pedro’s red card at Ashton Gate on Saturday. #hcafc https://t.co/Msqie1RwqL

Selles felt his striker’s challenge warranted a straight dismissal and admitted Hull would consider their options in regard to an appeal.
“I think to put that thing on Joao (the need to make the challenge in the first place) is a little bit too much,” Selles said in his post-match press conference. “We need to review if that’s a red card or not because if we do (think it’s a red card), it’s probably going to end up being seven against eight in a lot of games.
“I don’t think we need to speak about Joao there because I don’t see anything there that indicates that that can be a sending-off.”
Hull City skipper Lewie Coyle said, per HullLive: “He’ll be gutted, but Joao’s been fantastic for us. We’ll all get around Joao. He’s a massive part of our squad, both on and off the pitch. It’s not something that he would ever have meant to do intentionally. These things happen in football and we’ll be fully behind him and waiting for him to be back.
“He plays with that edge. He’s very, very tenacious in attack and in defence, helping out the team, and he does that so well for us. He gets back in, he gets goal side of their midfield players and tries to win the ball back for us, so I’d much rather have a player like that who wants to give his all for the team and get back in. It’s unfortunate the sending off, but it is what it is, we move on and like he has done for us, the lads have his back.”
Twitter users reacted with appeals made against red cards for West Brom’s Darnell Furlong and Hull’s Joao Pedro…
@TomGilroy96: I’ll be massively surprised if the appeal comes off but fingers crossed it does as we will miss him a lot #hcafc
@CityJason: Be surprised if that gets overturned, left the ground with 2 feet, seen players get sent off like this before #hcafc
@ShackHullreal: Wow, really? I’ll be amazed if it gets overturned. But Ruben knows more about that kinda thing than I do. #hcafc
@spacebeergibbo: Can’t see it being overturned. Hopefully a reduction and he gets a one game rest. But knowing the current state of officiating and our luck itl be extended to 4 or 5 games. #hcafc
@MH_HCAFC: bristol city got away with a couple of red card worthy decisions…. thought the ref was a disgrace. #hcafc
@Owen_WBA: From all the replays it looks like the QPR man just ran into him. You see stuff like that all the time not even given as a foul! #wba
@Wbafcleigh11: Might aswell I’ve seen nothing conclusive in the replays to say that he elbowed him #wba
@alfieb0601: Knowing our luck it won’t be accepted because it’s “West Bromwich Albion” #wba
@Wellsy172: Incoming extra match ban because the FA like to shaft us #wba
@SmithyBoi90: He’s going to end up with a 3 game ban 😂 #wba
@JACKO_BRAND: Seems frivolous, hopefully we’ve got some better camera angles. Referee was dreadful though, got most things wrong bar the penalty. #wba
