Anthony Gordon responds after Everton’s incredibly blunt statement put out on their website on his move to Newcastle United.
The 21-year old had been with his boyhood team since he was 11 years old and climbed up the ranks to play a big role in their Premier League survival.
After Everton’s £60million asking price, he was linked to a move to Chelsea this summer, but instead stayed at Goodison Park.
Gordon scored seven goals in his 78 first-team appearances, but his behavior over the past few weeks has angered fans.
Due to a planned absence, the England U21 international skipped training at Finch Farm on Tuesday. However, he didn’t return Wednesday or Thursday.
Gordon moved to Newcastle on Sunday. Everton confirmed that they had accepted a bid for an undisclosed sum after Everton submitted a formal transfer request.

Everton simply wrote: “Anthony Gordon has joined Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee.
“The 21-year-old forward leaves Everton after having submitted a formal transfer request.
“Gordon joined the Club’s Academy at the age of 11 and made his senior debut as a 16-year-old in a Europa League tie in December 2017. He went on to make 78 First-Team appearances, scoring seven goals.”
Since then, Anthony Gordon has issued his own statement: “To Everton…. I came to this club at the age of 11 and not only did it give me a place to play football but it gave me a second family. The club has shaped me into the footballer and more importantly the person I am today, it has given me everything I could have asked for and more.
“Like any young scouser living 2 minutes from the stadium, I dreamt of scoring inside Goodison, in front of thousands with the fans cheering my name. I remember travelling to away games with my mates, singing the players songs and dreaming it would happen to me. Last year felt so surreal because all of my childhood dreams were becoming reality. I wish I could relive some of them days but I’ll settle for the memories, which will last a lifetime for me.
“To the fans, you gave me some of the best nights of my life. You made me a better player. I have always thrived off your energy and you always made me run harder and faster.
“There has been some difficult moments this year but I never took any of it personally; stick by the team because they need you.
“I’ve built so many good relationships over the years with Players, Fans, Coaches and other members of staff and am going to miss everyone deeply. Although the past 2 years have been tough at moments, the people inside Finch Farm always made me come in with a smile.
“I want to thank everyone that has helped me over the past 11 years I’ve been at this amazing club, there are way too many people to name but I will forever be grateful for the time people have invested in me.
“I love this club and I always have from the day I joined but the time has come for me to leave. I know many won’t understand but the next chapter awaits. I will always wish the best for this club and always be watching on.
“From the bottom of my heart thank you and good luck.”
Gordon telling the Everton fans to “Stick by the team because they need you” whilst he leaves for Newcastle in January…
Fair enough. That is top tier p*ss-boiling. 😂 https://t.co/YLl4kbLUbP

“Since I heard of the interest, I was always convinced Newcastle were for me,” Gordon told NUFC TV.
“I think the fan base and the city really suits me as a person, the way the team are playing under the gaffer at the minute really suits me, and the club just look like they’re heading in the right direction.
“I feel like it’s a really big step. People haven’t seen what I’m capable of yet. I think under the gaffer, and the way the club’s going, I can really excel here.”
Head coach Eddie Howe added: “I’m delighted to sign Anthony – he’s a top, top talent.
“I’m really excited to work with him, to develop him, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in a Newcastle shirt.”

There was plenty of reaction as Anthony Gordon responds following Everton’s incredibly blunt statement on his move to Newcastle…
@Jdilworthlfc: You stick by the team. But I’m fucking not. I’m off 👋
@VitaliyWorld: Your so shite I hope you get an ACL injury
@EFCxGoat: Turning off the comments 🐍🐍🐍
@_LRG91: Asking the fans to stick by the team cause “they need you” but he’s packed his bags and fucked off when his boyhood club are in the shitter. No loyalty in the game anymore. It’s all about the £.
@JDMUFC20: Imagine living 2 mins away from your boyhood club and bailing on them in a relegation fight.
@sterushton: He can’t wait to get away and nobody at Everton cares. Probably the most sensible transfer. I still haven’t got over Richarlison and Lukaku. This one doesn’t touch the sides. Bye mate
@dellderek88: Deary me 🤣🤣🤣. Feel for #EFC fans on this one. They’ve been given the middle finger by own of this own and he’s trying to leave like he’s a club legend.
@louiekeato: Tells us to stick with the team as fans but he gets off as soon as the first opportunity comes. You’re no Evertonian you lad leaving when we’re in the bottom 3, asking if u can stay home on a matchday, saying you’ll never play for us again and refusing to train for 3 days!
@Ginge_________: Bit rich telling the fans to stick by the team when you’ve sulked for half a season ye fuckin kopite cunt
@Marco_Ross_10: 🐀 If you love a club there’s no way you’re fucking off in the middle of a relegation battle. Fella gives as many fucks about Everton as I do 😂 luckily for Everton he’s fucking shite though.
@RedAndWhite9908: I’m HOWLING at “Stick by the team, they need you” – as he forced his way out
@ThespenceUK: His agents have tried to pacify Evertonians by writing a lovely statement and it hasn’t worked. Oh well. AG is at #NUFC, Everton have got rid of player their fans don’t like. A win-win👍
@NUFCMoments: Tell you what, for a young lad he’s handled this stage of the departure incredibly well – both toward Newcastle and Everton fans.
@Akki_GG: 😂😂😭 stick by the team but I am off lads
@Steve_o_1980: I don’t even support @Everton but this post still makes me say “fuck you”. Everton fans must be raging
@eamonnefc: Fuck clean off. £45m thank you very much 🤝
@ah99_____: Admire the level of piss boiling here, urges fans to stick by the club yet essentially went on strike to get a move and fucks off when his boyhood club are 19th. Even funnier that he is absolutely toilet
@lauraw97_: i cannot begin to describe how rattled i would be if a kid from our academy refused to turn up to training to force a move during a relegation battle and then posted a notes app message telling fans to “stick by the team”
@WatchedToffee: “Stick by the team they need you.” – He says after asking to leave twice, asking if he had to travel to an away game and then legging it out the exit door at the first opportunity.
@Sm0keyRobinson: Can’t blame him for jumping ship reading some of these quote tweets from Everton fans, proving themselves to be the scummiest fan base in the UK
@RichySouthern: Chatted on Friday with a fella who had coached Anthony Gordon & he said the thing that’ll surprise a lot of people is that he’s got an IQ way above the average. Listening to him speak & seeing his writing, you can quite believe it.
@AmyHamerslagh: Can’t lie, hurts this, just don’t understand why he did it the way he did while he knows what we’re going through
@andystreacle: Haha. This man’s ego is off the scale isn’t it. He’s a young man so he gets a lot of slack from me for that but Christ this is cringe.
@ashy1878: Good Luck @anthonygordon, your future is what you make of it, you need to work hard, & harder again if you are to be the player we were promised. Sadly, I dont think we ever saw your full potential at Everton. Once Everton has touched you, nothing will compare. #NSNO 💙
@ChrisPickles24: Cowardly not to have the comments open isn’t it… What a load of utter crap from a player that has disrespected the club and the fanbase with his actions! Good riddance, and thank you for the cash, you’ve been truly rinsed @NUFC
@r4chaelc1878: You’ll be running harder and faster the next time you’re here too because our players will be wanting to launch your runty arse up into the air. No diving will be required.
@WattAWildWorld: I’ve no issue with a player leaving. If they want to go and the club gets a good acceptable fee this is football. We move on. What does rankle a bit is telling the fans to “stick with the club” when he’s forced his way out of the club he’s been at since he was 11yo.
@thebigfella1878: Fuck off you absolute rat, imagine doing what you’ve done yo your supposed boyhood club. Should be ashamed of yourself you’ll never be welcome at Goodison again. Hope your career flops you Claire Balding looking cunt, look forward to seeing you turn out for Port Vale.
