Two years ago, when discussing Doncaster City’s plans for the future, a spokesperson said: “To get as high as they can. A lot of people on Twitter from various teams say it will never happen but it’s been done before.
“We have got a bit of an advantage in terms of people known to the club.”
They continued: “We know how difficult it’s going to be.
“It’s not going to be an overnight thing but there is no point not having ambition with these sorts of things.
“It’s not just about Doncaster City, it’s for the profile of Doncaster and Doncaster sport. I think people should be behind it.”
The club has generated media interest locally, regionally and nationally since its formation, owing to McKay’s reputation and their bold plans and presence on social media.
“People are saying they don’t care but I think they are taking notice,” the spokesperson added.
”If they didn’t care they wouldn’t follow us and take the time to tweet us.
“People get the wrong perception of us. We are not trying to take over, we are building our own thing.”
Fans have their reaction after the ambitious 11th tier club unveil impressive plans as they submit final planning application…
@DannySouth1: Looks class that
@MikeyGKAllen: This will be fantastic for Doncaster as a whole. There isn’t much option in Doncaster at all and their only real elite centre is at the keepmoat which has become wear and tear and dated. Can’t see the council having any reason to decline the plans. Looks amazing guys 👏👏👏👏
@challo_drfc: Very impressive 👏
@Lee82Sutton: Good luck. 🤞🏼
@aaron_challoner: Absolutely class facility. Hope to come down and see it all once it’s completed 👍🏼

@LewisRhys: Yeah you know what, fuck the board
@chalmershamish: Fair play this looks absolutely unreal
@CraigGoater87: How does it feel #rufc that a lower league club will have better facilities than Roundwood, keep them pink bins free for ice baths eh 🙈🙈
@Beechball530: Now this. This looks intriguing. Go check those out everyone!
@1867max: Hahaha ffs a non league side will have better facilities than us #swfc
@TNwawaw: They were Founded 3 years ago 😭
@DWL2001: Thats them who signed Hoolahan, Mccormack and Mulgrew innit?
