Aldershot Town appoint new manager

Recently relegated Aldershot Town have this afternoon confirmed the appointment of Danny Searle as their new manager.

It was only yesterday Searle stepped down from his role at Braintree Town with immediate effect, many however guessed that he would be the man to get the job.

The Shots, who are set to compete in the National League South, could potentially be reprieved, depending on the future of Gateshead on Wednesday this week.

The 41 year old took over the National League side in January, replacing Hakan Hayrettin who departed for Maidstone United, who like the Essex side went down.

He only won six of his 16 matches in charge, moving them off the bottom but still finished 22nd and relegated, 11 points from safety.

Aldershot Town said: “The 41-year old earned his UEFA Pro Licence this year and brings a fountain of coaching knowledge and fresh ideas to the club.

“Everybody at Aldershot Town is looking forward to this new chapter.”

Following the announcement of Danny Searle appointment at Aldershot, fans of both clubs took to social media to give their reaction – find out what was said on the next page.
