AFC Fylde set to appoint manager of League Two club

According to reports, AFC Fylde are set to appoint Morecambe manager Jim Bentley, the longest serving boss in the EFL.

He has held his role since May 2011, but will not be taking training at the Shrimps but instead saying plenty of goodbyes.

The afternoon will see him with a lot of hellos as he starts his new job in taking the Coasters higher up the National League table and away from the relegation zone.

Bentley comes in for Dave Challinor who was sacked by AFC Fylde in the afternoon that their game against Sutton United was postponed earlier in October.

Challinor guided them to the playoff final last season but lost out to Salford City, they also were in the final of the FA Trophy, which they won by beating Leyton Orient.

Morecambe currently sit bottom of the League Two table, picking up 10 points in 16 matches.
