It has been confirmed this afternoon by Sunderland Echo writer Mark Carruthers that a supporter-led takeover of Gateshead FC has been completed.
Following hours of talks this morning with former general manager Alisha Henry, it is said that Italian financial adviser Joseph Cala accepted a £25,000 offer after talking with the much hated owner Dr Ranjan Varghese.
It now ends his association with the club and that they will announce their new board ‘in coming days’ and talk with the financial situation to the FA and National League.

Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, Alisha Henry said: “The deal has been a long time coming.
“Since the end of the season, when many people were let go by the club, there has been a lot of work behind scenes to try and save the club.
“Tuesday was a pivotal moment and we finally agreed a deal just before 11pm, before receiving confirmation from the club’s owner that the funds had been received.
“This is just the start of the hard work for everyone connected with the club and we still need as much support as possible going into the new season.
“There are a few hurdles to get over to move forwards, but this could be the start of something special and hopefully we can create a team on and off the pitch to make Gateshead proud.”
I will say this is all just happening and I am working towards getting something more substantial from those involved. I reiterate that Gateshead are not out of the woods yet, there is so much to do before they even get to focus on on-pitch matters.
But it is a positive.
