25/26 EFL Trophy Semi Final draw after Quarter final action

Time for the 25/26 EFL Trophy Semi Final draw live in full now that most of the quarter final ties have been played out this week.

Sky Sports’ Jamie Weir hosted the draw, with former footballers Jobi McAnuff and Curtis Davies drawing the ties out.

Semi Final ties are to take place week commencing the 2nd of March. Doncaster Rovers, Northampton Town and Stockport County are already through. Luton Town or Plymouth Argyle face each other for the final spot in the semi finals.

QUARTER FINAL RESULTS

Doncaster progressed through with a 2-0 penalty shootout win after a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town. Doncaster went onto the lead by half-time thanks to Billy Sharp’s penalty, only for the hosts to level the scoreline on the 52nd minute, a curled strike from Cameron Ashia.

In the shootout, only Ben Close and Robbie Gotts found the net for Rovers, while Huddersfield’s Alfie May, Lasse Sorensen, and Dion Charles all had their penalties kept out by keeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala, and Antony Evans struck the bar.

Northampton Town are also in the draw, having won 2-1 against AFC Wimbledon. Jack Vale scored first, Matty Stevens levelled the scorleine, but Tom Eaves produced the winner with 17 minutes left on the clock.

Stockport meanwhile hammered Port Vale 4-0, with Adama Sidibeh scored twice, plus an own goal by Ben Amos and a late Jack Diamond strike.

We will find out who will be the fourth semi-finalist when Luton Town host Plymouth Argyle on the 24th of February.

Swindon Town were removed from the competition by the EFL for fielding two ineligible players in the Round of 16. Luton Town took their place in the competition.

Competition Format

From Round of 32 phase to the Semi-Finals, no extra time shall be played. The winners shall be determined by penalty kicks.

Extra time will apply only in the Final if the result is level after ninety minutes’ duration. A period of 30 minutes will be played. If still equal the winner is then decided by penalties.
