11th tier club Telford Town urge fans to ditch ‘primadonnas’ Premier League for hidden gem non league football in a Twitter post this week.
The team plays in the West Midlands (Regional) League Division One and were formerly known as Wellington Amateurs.
In 2024 the club was taken over by businessman and former Hednesford Town owner Hayden Dando and renamed Telford Town, and they currently sit top of the league with with 38 points from 15 games played, 12 points clear of second place FC Darlaston, who have 26 points from 12 games played.
Grasp this, if you dare.
Non-league football is the hidden gem you’re blatantly ignoring.
Yeah, you heard us right.
Non-league football, not the Premier League.
You might be thinking, “But the standard of non-league football won’t be as good as in the Premier League.”

Well, guess what?
You’re wrong.
Dead wrong.
The Premier League’s overrated, a circus of overpaid primadonnas prancing around, more interested in their Instagram followers than the game itself.
In non-league, it’s pure, raw, unadulterated football.
Football that’s played with passion, grit and a burning desire to win.
Not for the glory, not for the fame, but for the sheer love of the beautiful game.
You might not have your Ronaldo or Messi.
But you’ve got real heroes.
Players who work all week and then put their bodies on the line on a Saturday afternoon.
They play for the badge on their chest, not the name on the back of their shirt.
So, keep your over-hyped Premier League.
We’ve got something real.
Something you can touch, feel and be a part of.
Not some artificial construct created to sell shirts in China.
Give non-league a chance.
You may just find it’s not the standard of the football that matters.
It’s the soul. It’s the heart. It’s the passion.
Miss out on that and you miss out on everything that’s great about football.
Don’t be that guy or girl.
Don’t be a football snob.
Embrace the grime and the glory of non-league football.
You’ll thank me later.
