10th tier club Thornaby FC have been left devastated after part of their stadium is burnt down in a disgraceful arson attack.
Emergency services received a call to the Northern League club’s Teesdale Park at about 03:40 BST with fire engines remaining at the scene until 06:30.
They have since set up a donation page where fans who want to help out in any way can do so.
Chief executive Trevor Wing added that the fire caught the club shop, office block and community room.
After a host of requests to donate to the club we have created a @GoFundMeUK page.
Thanks agin for all the kind words of support. They are much needed today!

DONATION PAGE READS:
As a Club we are devastated.
As a community we have to come together.
As a society this cannot be acceptable.
5:30am on Monday 26th June we received a phone call from the police that Teesdale Park had been attacked by arsonists.
5 Fire engines attend the blaze from 3:40am to 6:30am. Thanks for their efforts.
Not sure where we go from here. Not sure what’s next. Not sure what the future holds.
We pride ourselves on the improvements that have been made to Teesdale Park by our team of supremely talented volunteers and their efforts have been decimated.
9 teams have had their home ruined and as it stands we are unable to be a football club for our community.
We appreciate that everyone is feeling the pinch in these times but any donation will be gratefully received and used in its entirety to keep Teesdale Park for for football.
We estimate that the total loss is approximately £130,000.
The amount set will replace the necessities for us to return to being the hub of our footballing community.
We need to replace goalposts, get electrical repairs, roof repairs, office space, computers and many thousands of pounds of volunteer tools, mowers, tractor and countless other items to numerous to list here.
Our club needs help to continue, it’s as simple as that.
Thank you for reading.
It came in the same week the club also suffer more damage, saying: “Another morning where we turn up to mindless destruction and damage from our overnight visitors.
“Becoming a regular occurrence and is a huge disappointment to our team of volunteers who work so hard to make Teesdale Park better every day.
“To the “visitors”: we have you on camera, we know who you are and the police will be informed.”

@phil_dfc: It’s hard enough for non leagues clubs to make ends meet at the moment and you get some real scumbags in this world. Absolutely devastating
@JohnWilberforc1: Just devastating this. So sorry, from all of us at Redcar Athletic FC.
@Gingerheed: That is horrendous, hope the culprits are caught sharpish and dealt with severely, hopefully this won’t affect the ability to start the season #heedarmy
@hartingib: Absolute madness – so sorry to hear this!

@N_L_Away_Days: Absolute disgrace.
@MrTaylorM: Sorry to see this. Absolutely devastating for the club.
@JamieMeskill2: What do they gain ? Seriously what do you gain nothing you loose a fundamental part of something everyone can share and enjoy
@donnawaugh212: That’s terrible. What is wrong with people
@Lambo88: Another terrible tangible example of crime and disorder ravaging through our communities 😔
@Bayla08: Sorry to hear this Dan. Clubs like Thornaby are run by a small group of volunteers who have pride in their club. Hope you get back on your feet quickly and the scum who did this are caught and punished accordingly 😩
@TheDB30: Words absolutely fail me 🤬 makes you wonder what actually goes through people’s minds. Some of the soundest people you’ll ever meet at Thornaby that certainly don’t deserve any of this.
@raineyjr89: This need to stop!! It’s hard enough running teams in Non-League but this is just making it even harder
@dan_bewicke: Absolutely shocking….hope these losers get their comeuppance #scumbags
@MWO2602: This is terrible to hear. Heartbreaking for supporters and volunteers who put so much time, effort, heart & soul into a club. Only for it to be destroyed. Good luck moving forward.
@RussWWFC: People are scum. Was a lovely club to visit a few years back. Stuff like this happening regularly, what’s the point. If the police can be bothered to catch them, should be five years in prison, minimum.
@toonpete85: What is wrong with people man? Like what goes through your mind when you decide to do this? Met some brilliant people down there last season who definitely didn’t deserve this. Hopefully they can rebuild going into the season.
@kieranstead95: Wtf is wrong with people man
@jackydobson4: Honestly struggle to get my head round stuff like this. The absolute worst kind of people ruining things which are only good for the area. Joke
Shaun Sweeney: It’s absolutely disgusting how anyone can do this to a local club which is here for the community to enjoy. I’m sure if the club sets up a go fund me page the people of Thornaby will all help ⚽️
Joanne Gibson: Absolutely disgusting 😡 all the people that take time out of there own time to have the club looking good to now this!!!! 😡😡
Tony McKenzie: I feel sick reading and viewing this post, we where only at the club last Thursday and commented on how much work had been completed during the closed season. Hope you manage to get some CCTV footage. I know how much work the club and individuals have put in. If you need anything then please reach out.
Peter Young: I can’t believe this.. after yesterdays vandalism comes this.. I feel for the club and for all the volunteers who have been working extremely hard to make visits to Teesdale Park so much more enjoyable..
Peter Durrans: What is wrong with certain aspects of society?
Sam Carter: Terrible thing to happen. Sure your community will rally round. At least there was no trophies lost in the wreckage though
Peter Graham: Cowards do tricks like this. Hope the football community (including the big boys) rallies round to help you recover. As a small fry Whitby Town supporter I pledge £50 to any Go Fund Me page that may be set up.
Martin O’Riordan: What an absolute disgrace wow, the hard work and effort that people have put in and spineless kids go and do something like this just wow
Andrea Ansell: Absolutely shocking! I hope the culprits are found and you get some help in restoring this
Darryl Johnson: Jesus Christ what a mess, wouldn’t surprise me if
it was a Stockton fan who did it tbf rivals, jokes aside it’s a disgrace
Matthew Carroll: Devastated this is a club I have supported since I was a little boy and I know personally how much work has been put in by all the amazing people at the club many of who I class as good friends they have helped me become to become a better person and this is why it is the special club it is and one that I am massively proud to support. We will in true Thornaby spirit bounce back 💙
Colby Priestley-Wallinger: No need for people like this like. Right before season starting as well 🤬🤬
Neil Peacock: Unbelievable, what do they get out of doing this to the local football club.
