10th tier club announce they are folding due to issues with finding a new ground

10th tier club Norwich CBS announce this week that they are folding due to issues with finding a new ground and investment.

They were members of the Eastern Counties League Division One North and played at the Football Development Centre in Bowthorpe until April 2024.

But on the 12th of May 2024, the club announced that they would be folding due to issues with finding a new ground.

They finished the 2023/24 season 15th with 45 points from 40 games, 7 points above the drop zone. Impressively, Kyle Richardson scored 36 league goals meaning he was the joint 8th in the scoring charts across Step 6.

Days prior that, manager Danny White tweeted: “Season done. Unfortunately a very tough couple of months after our news of not having our contract renewed at the fdc. Proud to have managed such a great bunch of lads. Injuries and unavailabilities killed us. Time to find another job hopefully ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป”

The club said in a statement: “It is with a heavy heart and great disappointment that today we are announcing that we have informed the Thurlow Nunn League that Norwich CBS FC will be withdrawing its membership for the upcoming season and as a result the club will be folding.

“As most will be aware we have been looking for a new ground to play and investment in the club and unfortunately this search has come up short ultimately leading to the decision we’ve made.

“It has been a wonderful journey, full of good memories that will never be forgotten and friendships that will last a life time.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank every player that has pulled on a CBS shirt and played their part in the history of our club, there are so many players to mention individually but you all know who you are and we hope that playing for CBS has left you with great memories, we were a unique club, different to most and that’s what made us special.

“We would like to thank all those who have worked tirelessly to keep this club going week in and week out Especially Mark, Andrew (Rin), Simon Pye and Malcom Dye without their dedication and commitment we wouldn’t have had a club to play for. More recently we would like to Thank Danny White who became manager this season with the club not doing so well and guided us to safety comfortably after many had written us off for relegation.

“All good journeys have to come to an end and sadly this time its ours but we know once a CBS always a CBS.”

This is how fans reacted as the 10th tier club announce they are folding due to issues with finding a new ground and investment…

@SJW_96: Very sad news. We often visited as we live close by. Friendly club and often entertaining football.

@harvdoc: Very saddened to read this….. I personally always enjoyed playing against norwich cbs and had some very competitive games over the years. People don’t realise how hard it is to run a football club and at times what a thankless task it is.

@grumpyoldmano: Really sad news. Had some great times with CBS, Mark and Rin are two top guys who supported my Johno whether playing for CBS and as he progressed. Thank you so much for everything and I hope we meet again real soon. Much respect Graeme J.
