Will Still was not happy with the full time handshake, and John Mousinho accuses Tom Fellows of trying to injure players.
It was an entertaining South Coast derby, but it ended goalless, with Portsmouth having the best of the first half with Andre Dozzell striking the crossbar from distance.
Southampton were much improved after the break, however, neither side could create a clearcut chance to try and win the game.
The result sees Pompey sitting 9th in the Championship with 8 points from 5 games, while Southampton are 15th with 6 points,

During the game, Fellows was involved in a first-half incident that led to the substitution of two Portsmouth players.
There was a collision occurred after Fellows pushed defender Connor Ogilvie, who then fell into goalkeeper Nicolas Schmid, who was substituted in the 26th minute, while Ogilvie was replaced at half time.
A free-kick was awarded against Fellows for the push, which Portsmouth’s manager Mousinho described as a “small push” but accused Fellows of malicious intent, despite Fellows never having been sent off.
Mousinho said, per Daily Echo: “I thought it was really poor. I spoke to the referee there.
“You’ve got two Portsmouth players travelling at pace towards each other and it’s a small push, but it’s a small push with massive consequences.
“There’s no other explanation for that other than he’s trying to injure our players and he did so successfully, so well done on that.
“[He should be booked] at least. You’ve got two players running at pace at each other, tell me what else he’s doing other than trying to injure them.
“If anyone gives me another explanation, then I’ll happily take it, but we’ve ended up with one player in hospital and the other player really struggling.
“Nicolas is not doing good with his wrist. He’s not good at all. You can see what it takes for the goalkeeper to come off. He’s in a spot of bother.
“With Connor, it was his neck. You can probably imagine as Conor’s tracking back he’s got the full force of that challenge, he’s going to come off.
“You guys have seen over the years how tough Connor Ogilvie is, so for him to have to come off, it was significant. No, there was no concussion.”

Mousinho speaking to BBC Radio Solent:
“I’m pretty happy to be honest. It is a strange one because we were so good in the first half and the second half was slightly different and so towards the end of the game we made substitutions to make sure we secured the point which we did very well.
“I am extremely proud of the boys for their effort, extremely proud of the football club and the way we have done our business in recent weeks, and we can hopefully use this to springboard ourselves to bigger and better things.
“I certainly thought we were the better side in the first half, and weather we were in the second half, Southampton were probably better than us in the second half but on chances created and opportunities, I thought we were the better side.”
On the handshake with Will Still: “It was nothing, it’s just me and him are good mates! Don’t worry about it. It was fine. It was a strong handshake.
“I just said good luck for the rest of the season. I don’t know him. I just get peppered in my left ear all game. I try and concentrate on my own side.
“He made a good sprint onto the pitch early on. I thought that was good, I didn’t think you were allowed to do that. But no, he’s fine. No problems.
“When you’re competing against each other, that’s what you expect. I don’t want anyone to come off and be the best of friends after a game.
“I certainly don’t think the two managers of this football club should be mates. There should be a bit of feisty competition. I absolutely love it.”
Will Still on the handshake: “Yeah, I didn’t quite get that. Well, it’s just a derby, it’s football, isn’t it?
“I don’t mind it, but I didn’t and don’t understand why he grabbed hold of my hand, but fair play, he came with a game plan and did what they wanted to do.
“Like I said, he’s a good coach, he’s a good manager, and he’s done really good things with Portsmouth. Fair play to him, it’s just part of football, so it’s fine.”
Portsmouth winger Josh Murphy speaking to ITV’s Aaron Paul:
“It was a special occasion today. I think everyone is a bit gutted that we didn’t get the three points because we feel we deserved it.
“But we dug in deep, took a lot of pressure from Southampton at the end of the game so maybe a draw is fair, but we feel a little disappointed.
“With derbies, tactics probably go out the window in the end. It becomes 11 versus 11 and you just have to win those battles. We came in at half time and were happy with how we performed.
“It felt like a home games at times. I’ve said it before that we have the best fans in the league, so we look forward to the next one being played back at Fratton Park later on in the year.”

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, Mousinho believes it was a push on Ogilvie that caused the collision in the first place.
“Andre Dozzell took a knock in training yesterday, so the fact he got through the full 90 minutes is really pleasing,” Mousinho said.
“Nicolas Schmid and Connor Ogilvie are both not great, they are both injured obviously and that is probably the thing that I’m most frustrated about in the game.
“The goalkeeper is coming out, Connor gets pushed in the back which was extremely dangerous but nothing happened.
“I think the injury with Connor is his neck. We don’t think it is concussion and we didn’t use our concussion substitute.
“Nicolas has a problem with his hand, which we will wait and see what the damage is.”
“It was very frustrating. the first half was not good enough. I think we have literally wasted 45 minutes of what we were doing by taking things too literally and too stereotypically,” Still told BBC Radio Solent.
“When you are playing a 4-2-3-1 you need a bit of movement and personality on the ball and to open space.
“Away from that it was a bit of a stop-start game. There was a lot of free-kicks, throw-ins, goal kicks and it just sort of flattened things to be honest.
“But maybe that was what they wanted, they probably came here for that and got what they wanted so fair play to them for that.
“I just want to win games of football. I was more frustrated with the scenario of the game, it was just very stop, start, long balls, second balls, fouls. It just did not get into the flow of what it could have been, what it should have been, so we have to fix that.”
