Watford cause a stir posting a video of Paulo Pezzolano’s passionate yet awkward post match speech after beating Hull.
The club uploaded footage of the manager praising the team’s character and first-half performance while emphasising teamwork, hard work, and enjoying football in an urge for his players to address individual issues through daily effort.
The result, the Hornets’ second league win out of seven, leaves them sitting 16th in the Championship with 8 points from 7 games played, Hull are 18th with the same points and games played.

Paulo is heard saying: Congratulations. Today you show the character, okay? I told you. Okay? You need more character. The second half, hey, and first half, you played very well. Hey, very well. You know, because the football is simple. You, today, won, perfect. Because for a moment you played very well. Okay?
“Thank you Moussa [Sissoko], KB [Baah] very well.
“Hey, remember, we need all. We need each other, we need everyone.”
Translator: “As he told you, he’s not here to make friends with anyone. He’s here to help you guys improve and perform. Together, we get the result. Okay?”
Paulo: “You have a lot of problems. Individual problems. I have too. Okay? We need to work every day. Every day work is the only way.”
Translator: “It’s the only way. Working every day.”
Paulo: “You are for work. You are to play football. It’s the most beautiful in the life. Playing football is the most beautiful in the life. Enjoy this. Okay?”
Pezzolano said to the club’s media post-match: “I’m happy for the fans, for the players, for the people who work every day at the club.
“I’m happy with the performance, and not only for the win, as today the team showed character.
“This is very important for us to improve.
“At half-time I told them to stay calm and to keep doing everything they had been working on.
“I told them to show character and in the second half we did that, and we managed to get the win.
“We always have belief in the work we are doing. Today we are calm and we are hoping that we can do it again in the next game for the fans.
“We are working every day on more mobility for the strikers, midfielders and wing-backs,” he said.
“More diagonal movements, more going into space and then coming back again and receiving the ball in between the lines.
“We’re very pleased because Semedo played in line with what we have been working on.
“He has shown that he can do that, but now he has to show he can do it even better.”
