Leeds have shown an interest in signing Brighton’s Oliver Norwood. The YEP adds that Leeds are also one of a number of second-tier sides interested in the highly-rated Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods. The 24-year-old would not come cheap, however, given that Swansea City were tipped to make a £7 million bid, according to Sky Sports.

Brentford have tabled a bid for Olympiacos defender Bjorn Engels as they look to strengthen their squad before the close of the transfer window.

Wolves defender Kortney Hause closing in on a loan move to Reading, Football Insider sources understands. Championship side Reading have made enquiries to Wolves about Hause’s availability on loan as they look to bolster their defensive options and are hopeful a deal can be agreed this month/

Aston Villa have beaten Middlesbrough in the big-money race for Bristol City defender Joe Bryan, Football Insider sources understands. Villa and Middlesbrough both agreed £6million fees with Bristol City on Monday for the highly-rated left-back.

TEAMtalk is reporting that Leeds United and Fulham, who were linked a few months ago, remain at the front of the queue to sign Sean Clare. But Swansea City are a new name in the frame with the report suggesting that they are one of the clubs who have held talks with the former Gillingham loanee.

Burnley and Derby County are in talks over a deal that would see strikers Matej Vydra and Nahki Wells swap clubs, according to Sky Sports’ live blog.

Hibernian midfielder John McGinn is in Birmingham for a medical ahead of £2.1 million move to Aston Villa, according to the Daily Mirror’s live blog.

– As many as five Championship sides are battling it out for Peterborough ace Marcus Maddison, according to reports. Teamtalk claim that the attacker has a £2.5m release clause in his current contract, and that has alerted a host of second tier sides. Middlesbrough, Derby, Aston Villa, Wigan and Preston are all thought to be interested in a swoop.

– The Sunderland Echo claims that Sunderland‘s Lee Cattermole is a target for Championship outfit Hull City. The Tigers, however, would only want to sign him on loan at this stage.

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Stephen Henderson is training with Bristol City as he looks to win a move to Ashton Gate, Football Insider sources understands.

Columbus Crew have rejected a $1.25m (£970,000) bid from Blackburn Rovers for midfielder Wil Trapp.

– Championship clubs Derby County and Rotherham United are looking at Scunthorpe United midfielder Duane Holmes. According to HITC Sport the two second tier teams are eyeing a move for Holmes, who has a year remaining on his Scunthorpe United contract.

Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move for Jonas Knudsen should they fail in their pursuit of Bristol City‘s Joe Bryan.

Newcastle United are looking at trying to sign Bournemouth ace Harry Arter this summer, according to The Sun, but the Magpies face competition from Cardiff City, Middlesbrough and Stoke City for the Republic of Ireland international. The report adds that Bournemouth will be looking for around £10 million before they sanction a deal.

Aston Villa are making a shock move to sign Besiktas’ Alvaro Negredo according to a report from Turkish publication Takvim via Villa Report. Cardiff are also keen.

– The Guardian have claimed in their live transfer blog that Leeds United are battling Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough to sign Aston Villa speed machine Albert Adomah before Thursday’s 5pm deadline.

Accrington Stanley striker Kayden Jackson is closing in on a move away, after it was reported a fee has been agreed with three clubs by Pete O’Rourke. Kayden Jackson has been the subject of significant interest throughout the summer, with Ipswich, Queens Park Rangers and Peterborough United all linked with moves.

Sunderland and Shrewsbury have both been credited with an interest in a loan move for Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty. The 21-year-old doesn’t feature as part of Steven Gerrard’s first team plans, and a move could be on the cards.

DEALS:

Nuneaton Borough have announced the signing of Lewis Freestone on loan from Peterborough United. The 18-year-old left-back is described by the Boro as ‘a welcome addition to the squad’ and ‘an exciting prospect who has featured eight times for The Posh in League One.’

Burnley have signed Derby County‘s Czech Republic striker Matej Vydra, who was top scorer in the Championship last season. Vydra, 26, has signed for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal, with the option of another year. He scored 21 goals in 40 league appearances as the Rams finished sixth in the table.

Birmingham City have re-signed striker Omar Bogle on a season-long loan deal from Premier League side Cardiff City.

Birmingham City have signed Bournemouth winger Connor Mahoney on a season-long loan deal.

Aston Villa have signed goalkeeper Orjan Nyland from German second tier side FC Ingolstadt 04 for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old Norway international has agreed a three-year contract with the Championship club.

Brentford have re-signed right-back Moses Odubajo on a one-year contract, with the option of a further year.

Shrewsbury Town have signed Lincoln City centre-back and captain Luke Waterfall for an undisclosed fee.

– Championship side Queens Park Rangers have loaned winger David Wheeler to Portsmouth for the season. Wheeler, 27, joined Rangers last August from Exeter City and made nine appearances, scoring once.
