In Sky’s interview, Ashley Young said: “Yeah. It was it was difficult. You know, I was disappointed not to to be offered a a new contract, but, you know, that’s that’s behind me now and, you know, I’ve got to come here now and and produce the the goods on the pitch.

“I know I can go out and play play well, you know, a lot of we talked about my age but, you know, I know what I can give to a team, what I bring to a club, and I know Kieran knows what I can do as well.

“So, you know, playing that much in the Premier League last season at my age was was fantastic. So, you know, I’m looking forward to this season.

“Age is nothing but a number. And I’ll keep going as long as my my body can take.”

Fair to say he didn’t have a clue at what his mischievous teammates were up to just behind him, with Sky Sports having to apologise.
