Shrewsbury Town say they have been disappointed as their stadium gets vandalised by Djurgarden supporters for the TNS game.
The League One club saw Croud Meadow damaged by Djurgarden supporters following the European clash, having to seats ripped out, while there was also significant harm to lighting, tables, and chairs in Smithy’s Bar and the FanZone, along with widespread graffiti.
Salop mentioned that the repairs might not be completed in time for their upcoming match against Blackpool.
This incident has soured the experience of hosting The New Saints’ European matches, which was intended to boost local tourism and bring European football to Shropshire.
Shrewsbury Town are disappointed to report the Croud Meadow has been left vandalised by Djurgarden supporters.
We have spoken to Djurgarden and are working with them to repair the damage.#Salop 🔷🔶

The club said in a statement published on their website: Shrewsbury Town are angry and saddened to report the Croud Meadow has been left vandalised by Djurgarden supporters.
As a club, we took the decision to host TNS and their Europa Conference League matches in our home to boost tourism in the county and bring European football to Shropshire.
However, we have been left dismayed by supporters of Djurgarden after they caused widespread damage last night.
More than two dozen seats have been ripped out of the West Stand. There has also been substantial damage to lighting, tables and chairs in Smithy’s Bar and in the FanZone.
Alongside destroying property, Djurgarden fans also took it on themselves to cover all three areas in graffiti.
Just a few pictures of the damage are included in this story above.
We have spoken to Djurgarden as we continue to assess the damage and are working with them to repair the damage – however this work may not be done in time for our next fixture against Blackpool on Wednesday
As a club we would like to stress this vandalism is nothing to do with TNS – with the damage clearly caused by Djurgarden supporters.

Twitter users gave their reaction with Shrewsbury disappointed as their stadium gets vandalised by Djurgarden supporters…
@HazSTFC: Havnt even had panathaikos there yet lads.
@KyleDavies501: @daveyell82 wait until the Greeks get there in a few weeks 😂😂
@daveyell82: Greeks will defo see this as a competition now 😂
@DaveWil78515182: Here come the Greek boys !!!
@heyit5sam: League one fans stick stickers up all the time in that gaff 🤣
@Jonnogreig: Wait till the Bubbles come. They’ll cause havoc!
@Salop1977: Wish us luck with the Greeks ☘️🥴
@MNicholas89: Christ they’ve made £1,000s worth of improvements 😂
@loganstfc: we think that’s bad, wait til 3,000+ Gate 13 ultras visit
@fooballcymru: Get ready for the Greeks lads 😅
@jamiesomersuk: The irony of this regarding all that bird shit which covers the tv screens in the south stand whilst it’s ok for our OWN fans to eat and drink below has me in complete laughter here
@SocialEngland66: Wait until 3000 gate 13 ultras from Panathinaikos show up.
@salopcast: You would hope @DIF_Fotboll do the honourable thing and pay for the damages their fans caused.
@willthomas67: It’s alright lads, only Panathanikos in a few weeks
@HazSTFC: The Greeks will be 100x worse
@MatthewsHuw Replying to @DIF_Fotboll – We welcomed you to our ground with open arms, but didn’t expect you to disrespect it. Disappointing to see this 👎
@pigeonman562: Ah well at least the next lot coming are a bit calmer
@ianmckee58: Bring European fan culture to England they say 😂
@fcislocheng: Shrewsbury fans are now going to have beef with supporters of a club they’ve never played
@RuytonShrew: Appalling behaviour. Pleased to see the club call it out for what it is. There is similar damage and graffiti in the town centre, too. It damages further the reputation of football fans.
@scottedwards65: Not to worry 3000+ Greeks coming in a few weeks 😂
@loganstfc: Still got 3,000+ Panathinaikos Gate 13 ultras to visit us yet
@KatieEdwards_11: Disgusting to vandalised the stadium like that… No point fixing it all until Panathinaikos been on the 12th 🤔
@GavinMcTweets: just wait til the 12th of next month
Stickers I can perhaps forgive, but causing this amount of damage is just not on – it’s a shame, as on the surface the @DIF_Fotboll fans were being loud, but respectful.
Hopefully they’ll pay for the repairs, and we don’t see a repeat with Panathanaikos…😬#Salop https://t.co/GBa0XMnKSi pic.twitter.com/SqCxBuZ5Hz
