JOINT STATEMENT FROM LIVERPOOL AND EVERTON:
Liverpool FC and Everton FC are aware of – and condemn in the strongest possible terms – racist abuse received by Abdoulaye Doucoure following Wednesday night’s Merseyside derby.
Such abuse is reprehensible and will not, and should not, be tolerated.
Together, the two clubs will work with Merseyside Police, who are conducting an investigation with the aim of identifying the individuals responsible.
We also encourage people who witness or experience online abuse to report and highlight it to the social media platforms on which it appears.
We must all, including the social media companies, take a zero-tolerance stance. Platforms need to take accountability and action to ban such abusers.
Racism and hate has no place online, in our stadiums or in our communities.

The screenshots as seen above show just some of the abuse that were in the comments section of his post hours after the game.
James Tarkowski earned a 2-2 draw in the 98th minute; Mohamed Salah had looked to have sent the Reds nine points clear at the top of the Premier League after Alexis Mac Allister cancelled out Beto’s early goal; Arne Slot, Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure were all sent off.
Doucoure and Jones both saw red in the melee that followed the final whistle as, supporters having spilled onto the pitch, a bottle was thrown from the away end, and police got involved trying to calm the situation down.
Arne Slot was also sent off for his complaints towards referee Michael Oliver.
Nobody in the history of football has ever been as happy about being sent off as Abdoulaye Doucoure pic.twitter.com/OhQxQQqaZc

No one stands with racism, this is wrong and I will always be against this side. But he must respect the Liverpool fans.. Otherwise he will see for himself what will happen at Anfield 🔴 pic.twitter.com/Jy6JZWeEwx

Everton score late equaliser vs Liverpool as match ends with three reds at full time
Twitter users reacted as Liverpool and Everton condemn the disgusting racist abuse sent to Abdoulaye Doucoure on Instagram…
@EFCevie: absolutely disgusting. more needs to be done about racism in football
@HungarySzoboFPL: Not good. Racism is never the answer to anything. Disappointing.
@ChrisGreen14: Never understood how this could happen on massive social media platforms. Surely there’s some way these companies can find out who these accounts belong to so that they can get exposed as the pussies they are
@fonforest: Fuck humans who think this is ok
@stevekendrew: I hope all these scumbags are going to be called out and arrested. Please help the UK police with their enquiries @elonmusk
@rebekkarnold: Any fan of any club who does this are disgusting scum, including our own, a complete stain on society and the sport, if you’re in a footballer’s comment section abusing them for any reason you need to reevaluate your life, freaks.
@LHood92: Disgusting that racism is still a thing in 2025! More needs to be done and harsher punishment needs to be enforced by social media companies and police forces worldwide!
@Kristofle1983: This is absolutely disgusting. These people aren’t fans. They don’t represent the club. I’m a Liverpool fan and I’m speechless that in 2025 this is still an issue.
@DavepeoEFC: Absolutely disgusting, but sadly not at all surprising 😞
@WestBankToby: The fuck is wrong with people?
@coralflower9: Nothing, and I mean nothing is ever worth racial abuse that people suffer over a football game. Makes my blood boil.
@RedMan6_19: Grim. Grown men resorting to the worst kind of insults and behaviour
@GroundhogRedman: Well done to both clubs for acting so quickly on this. There’s no room for racism just like there isn’t room for tragedy shouts.
@Andy_LFC93: When are people going to realise it’s just a game of football.
@anfieldsociaI: Weirdos whoever does this
@nik8000: These cunts make us all look bad. If you know who they are, report them. Let’s kick this shit out for ffs. Sorry Doucoure, you don’t deserve this Most of us don’t feel this way. YNWA.
@DannySherms: Biggest dislike about football is how quickly people resort to racism and other discriminatory language in response to basically anything they don’t like. There’s never a place for it and hopefully everyone who sent abuse to Doucoure is identified, banned and charged
@JayyLFC9: Racial abuse is completely unacceptable and I hope whoever did it is banned for life. Even though he was a complete c*nt and antagonised the fans at the end it’s still completely unacceptable.
