Jordan Hulme ‘getting wires crossed’ over claims of his Salford exit as Gary Neville hits back

Jordan Hulme ‘getting wires crossed’ over claims he made of his exit from Salford City on a podcast as Gary Neville hits back.

Hulme’s comments, regarding his Salford City exit while on the I Had Trials Once podcast, were reported in a story by The Sun.

Gary Neville saw the story and denied claims, with Hulme then criticising ‘shite newspapers getting it wrong’.

Now Bernard Morley says in a tweet that Hulme got his wires crossed.

Hulme left the Ammies in 2017, after not being included in the club’s long-term vision. Hulme sought clarity regarding his role in the owners’ plans and wanted assurances that he would have the opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities at Moor Lane.

However, he says that Neville informed him his time at the club had come to an end.

He told the I Had Trials Once podcast: “So I rang Gary Neville to say like ‘don’t. If you tell me I can stay and fight for my place, I will train every day. I am not bothered if I am not in the squad for the first few, but if you tell me there is a slight chance, then I’ll stay’. He was like ‘there’s no chance. You are not playing for us again’.”

When asked on whether he got a payout he added: “Yeah I did, what did I have? A £60,000 contract. And I am like, let’s take £40k off the b*****s. So I went in and came out with £8k.”

Hulme then said that the Class of 92, who had purchased the club, then used his contract against him and he was forced out the door.

Hulme went on to say: “He was saying, because I signed a s**t contract. They were saying ‘We know what you’re on. Do you think we are a***d about paying someone £450 a week sit in the stands. That’s fine you can sit there.’ So that was their get out thing.”

Neville posted about this claim after seeing it reported by The Sun, saying that the conversation “never happened at all but sounds great”.

The Mirror write that ‘Hulme then appeared to suggest his words were misconstrued and corroborated Neville’s story that his conversation was actually with the club’s former joint managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley.’

The Sun have since said in their article ‘Hulme then joked that he went on a trip to Ibiza after leaving Salford. SunSport have seen the video and can confirm that Hulme was talking about Neville. Neville has also been approached for comment.’

Johnson and Morley then had their say, both saying they had the conversation with Hulme – not Neville.

Johnson wrote on Twitter: “Nope, it was me and Bernard Morley that sat down with Jordan, not Gary. Although, I can also confirm it was Gary Neville that sacked us, the ruthless, horrible sod!”

Morely added: “Gary, if Jordan said it was raining outside, I’d go and check. As good as lad and footballer he is, I think he’s got his wires crossed with this.”

@fanmorse: Everything in that headline you say 🤣

@killergorton11: Shit bag just seen it on that @IHadTrialsOnce even says @GNev2 …go at him tell him he owes you some more 😂

@AJZaynBro: He literally said it on his podcast though… that it was Neville who said it.

@ReeceDSport: Go on @IHadTrialsOnce and have it out with him then!

@stockport87: @GNev2 he’s not been misquoted by the paper as he’s called you out on this podcast as well.

@Jack_McCracken5: Tbf, if anyone listened to the podcast, Jordan said before this that it was Bern and Jonno that told him he’d never play again. G. Nev confirmed that in there convo. With all respect, if you’ve got money in the CN, you’re gonna be looking at L2 level strikers to get promoted!
