Fiancée of West Ham owner warns protesting fans to ‘be careful of what you wish for’

The fiancée of West Ham owner David Sullivan warns protesting Hammers fans to ‘be careful of what you wish for’.

West Ham fans, left frustrated with the club’s 19th-place position in the Premier League and its direction under owner David Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady, protested in the lead up to the game against Crystal Palace, demanding their resignation.

The group Hammers United, leading the march, expressed fears that the club is “going to die” under current ownership, citing unfulfilled promises since moving to the London Stadium in 2016.

The club released a statement last week insisting Potter still had the support of the board, but it’s understood the club will feel forced to make a change unless he can dramatically improve results.

Senior sources said to Daily Mail Sport before the game that manager Graham Potter still had their full backing, although they have already begun to line up potential replacements should they make a change, with the likes of Slaven Bilic and Nuno Espirito Santo his potential replacement.

Following a 2-1 defeat to Palace, tensions escalated, the board and Potter facing calls to be sacked and while Sullivan stayed silent, his fiancée, Ampika Pickston, defended him on social media…

Pickston wrote: ‘He works his a** off and gives a s*** about the club. Spent a fortune on players and managers. There is no exact science to guarantee results.

‘When David Sullivan and David Gold left Birmingham, the fans were thrilled; within 18 months, the new Chinese owners ruined the club. Be careful of what you wish for.

‘He gives a f***, until you have walked in someone else’s shoes no one can a true comprehension of all sides and dynamics. He is just as devastated as you. Believe me.

She added: ‘I see your point of view, watch this space as things will change. Don’t lose faith.’

Via Twitter, she said: “Once you have been in football as a owner for three decades, invested your security on staying up through relegation please come and share your thoughts.

“As they would be valued and significant. To be nasty and personal, including your negative attitude towards myself based on tabloids nonsense. Do me a favour, live a life in someone’s shoes and comment. Hiding behind West Ham’s club doesn’t wash with me . Who the F**k are you 😩😩😩👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽”

@theribman replied: “Tell everyone that you are fucking clueless without telling everyone that you are fucking clueless ⚒️”

To which she said: “Responded to a comment, I make no claims only share my opinion. If you’re a person of great knowledge and insight. Go and work in football as a manager, coach or set up a club yourself. ⚒️⚒️⚒️”

Hammers United said: ‘If we are going to get our club back our fanbase is going to have to fight. With Brady and Sullivan at the helm our club is going to die. It is in serious decline and dying a slow death.

‘With thousands of long-term, time-served fans walking away, another relegation fight beckoning and another early cup exit, we cannot allow this to happen on our watch.

‘We must show the world that Brady and Sullivan’s position is untenable and they must step aside for the good of the club.

‘They must have no more involvement in the running of West Ham United, which must be handed over to professionals with the expertise and drive to move the club forward.’

The game itself so the Hammers go winless in eight home Premier League games, leaving boss Graham Potter under serious pressure to keep his job.

They conceded their sixth goal direct from a corner when Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring, before Jarrod Bowen got the equaliser, only for Tyrick Mitchell to volley from close range, enough to win it for Palace.

Palace fans sang “you’re getting sacked in the morning” to Potter, with some of the West Ham fans joining in.

the away end also chanted “You sold your soul for this shithole”, with the West Ham support respond by clapping the away end.

West Ham manager Graham Potter speaking to PLP:

“We have to stick together, work hard and find a solution, it’s as simple as that, We are going through a tough time at the moment, but the only way out is to be together.

What is lacking at the moment?

“I don’t think it was effort, the players gave everything, the second half was a good response from us, pushed them back and got an equaliser.

“Their second goal sums up where we are at the moment, it was a bit out of nothing. We couldn’t quiet respond as well as we’d like. But we need to stick together and keep working hard.”

Is the window for you to turn things around getting narrower?

“I don’t thin about it to be honest, it’s part and parcel of the job.”

Can you turn it around?

“Absolutely, but I understand the nature of the question and the business.”

Potter speaking to Match of the Day:

“I think it was a spirited performance, maybe until the last bit then the wind was out of our sails.

“Second half we pushed them back an attacked, played with real spirit. I feel for the players at the minute, the goal knocked us, but we have to respond better. There were moments i thought we were good today.

“We stared the game well in terms of with the ball and trying to attack. But we struggled in the first half with the balance between pressing them and not opening ourselves up too much. It destabilised us.

“Second half we created more opportunites and attacks. We’re disappointed.

“It’s tough, the results are not what we want at all. I feel for the players, supporters, everybody connected with the club. We have to stick together and find a solution.

How will you improve on defending set-piece?

“It’s work, work and work. We’ve addressed it and are working to improve it. We conceded too many today and had to defended a lot. It’s just constant work on the training ground.

“The reaction from the supporters was fair, they were totally in the game with us and behind us.

“I have no complaints at all about the club or the support we’ve had, but I understand the results are not positive. We have to accept that and change it around. We need to improve find that balance and solution.”

Here’s how fans reacted as the fiancée of West Ham owner David Sullivan warns protesting fans to ‘be careful of what you wish for’…

@Jamieonthisday: State of this tweet. How not to read a room and instead fan the flames. All you’ve done is prove the fans are correct. Delusional.

@GeoffWilkinson_: He can not and will not ever be forgiven for selling our home and moving us to a soulless athletics stadium. He ripped the heart straight out of our club and it cannot be fixed. That’s what you defend.

@theribman: Tell everyone that you are fucking clueless without telling everyone that you are fucking clueless ⚒️

@BradleyMarable: @AmpikaPickston1 seriously? Feeling the pressure? Look, thanks for the memories, but tell your hubby we want him gone. This club needs to be progressing not going stale! If he wants to save any face with us, tell him to sack potter and get nuno tomorrow!!!!! Then spend in January

@donsimon78: Tell Davey boy and the Baroness we want them gone. 15 years of chaos, and we are taking our club back.

@whumarcus: Just tell him to sell the club so we can all move on

@ASte1966: @AmpikaPickston1 When you say ‘invested’, it’s just more lies he spoon feeds you as well as us Fans. He hasn’t invested fuck all. Instead what he has done is asset strip the Club of decent players & blew up our real HOME just for the sake of pocketing £40M in dodgy circumstances. It was your other half that got us relegated in his 1st season in charge! Tell Sullivan to sell up and go as he aint welcome anymore. He has systematically destroyed my beloved Football Club all for greed and ego. Enough is enough. Time for Kretinsky to have a go…⚒️
