Viewers couldn’t help but be in hysterics as former footballer Tony Adams unleashes his first dance moves on Strictly Come Dancing.
The 55 year old made a real go for it when it came to the group dance towards the end of Friday night’s episode, with a performance with his dance partner coming on Saturday.
Strictly Come Dancing pro Katya Jones was paired with Adams, who said he will be ‘giving his all’ on the dance floor this series.
“To say I’m excited is an understatement – the lure of the sequins and the call of the salsa has me swapping my battered old football boots for a set of Strictly soft shoes,” Tony said.
“Am absolutely thrilled to be giving it my all on this year’s 20th anniversary of Strictly Come Dancing. I can’t wait to meet my partner – god help her – and start the dancing.”

Tony Adams, known as The Donkey because of his inelegant style, reckons he might make a go of it on Strictly — if he can overcome his fear of the ballroom.
He says stepping out on to the floor is more scary than on to the pitch.
“I ain’t got a clue how to dance, so I’m making myself very vulnerable.
“It feels like the first day of school but you can do anything if you try.
“My former teammates do think I’m off my rocker for doing Strictly but they admire me for having the balls to give it a go.”
Questioned if he has danced in nightclubs, he replies: “Yeah baby, I’ve got it.”
After a pause, he adds: “When I was rehearsing with my partner recently, I did one move and they said, ‘Whatever that was, I don’t want to see it again’.”
Tony who quit drink and drugs 26 years ago, adds: “I’m proving that once you’re free of addiction you can put yourself out there and do things like Strictly.”
He accepted the challenge of Strictly Come Dancing after suffering a “mental breakdown” and nearly dying from a heart problem six years ago.
He said: “I’ve been asked a few times. I had a mental breakdown when I was 49 and working too hard in China and I’ve just got time now.
“I’m not working too much, my calendar’s pretty empty for the next three months so I just thought yeah, go for it.
“After my heart procedure – I nearly died when I was 49 – my main artery was 99% closed and the stress of life.
“I’m a bit of a born worrier, my mum was a worrier so I just decided to take things a bit easier and get myself on a silly show.”
Adams said medical staff for the programme had given him a “thorough examination” and described the production as “another level”.
He added: “My physio was quite damning because I’ve got a new metal knee as well, she went ‘no knee slides’.
“It was ‘can’t do this, can’t do that’ – she kept saying ‘you’re not very good are you?’. I said ‘I am 55 now’.”
Adams was sentenced to four months in prison in 1990 for drink driving and said that experience would help him deal with any critical feedback on his dancing.
He joked: “I’m going to top you all because when I came out of prison they lobbed bottles at me and I had carrots thrown at me, so I’ve trumped it.”
