A 16-year-old Wayne Rooney came off the bench and announced himself to the world by producing a moment of brilliance.
Premier League leaders Arsenal were finally unstuck by a memorable debut goal from Wayne Rooney, who crashed a curling, long-range strike off the underside of David Seaman’s crossbar to secure a 2-1 win in the dying moments of their encounter at Goodison Park.
ROONEY for Man Utd (v Stoke, 2016/17)
Wayne Rooney broke Stoke’s hearts as he surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time record for Manchester United, stepping up four minutes into stoppage time to plunder his 250th goal for the club. By this time, goals were hard to come by for Rooney. He fired a thunderous free kick past Stoke keeper Lee Grant to give his side a share of the points – creating history in the process.
