Video shows moment Richarlison has banana thrown at him after scoring for Brazil against Tunisia in Paris on Tuesday night.
The Tottenham player has been prolific for his country recently and found the net in their friendly, celebrating by running towards the corner flag, but as his teammates congratulated him, a banana was chucked onto the pitch.
Richarlison largely ignored the racist abuse, although Manchester United’s Fred kicked it off the pitch and stared into the crowd.

Before kick-off, Brazil’s players had again pushed back against racism as they stood next to a banner that read: “Without our black players, we wouldn’t have stars on our shirts.”
That was in response to the abuse subjected to teammate Vinicius Jnr, who was targeted in the build-up to Real Madrid’s clash with Atletico Madrid earlier in September. Fans gathered outside the Wanda Metropolitano as some chanted: “You are a monkey, Vinicius you are a monkey”.
It was the winger who came on for Richarlison in Brazil’s 5-1 thrashing, Raphinha grabbing a brace for the Selecao while Neymar and Pedro also found the back of the net.
The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) later issued a statement via Twitter condemning the abuse of Richarlison and calling for strong punishments.
It read: ‘After Brazil’s second goal, a banana was thrown towards Richarlison.
‘The CBF reinforces its stance against discrimination and vehemently repudiates yet another episode of racism in football.
‘Whether on or off the field, attitudes like this cannot be tolerated.’
CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues added: ‘Once again, I come publicly to express my rejection. This time I saw it with my own eyes. This shocks us.
‘We must always remember that we are all the same, regardless of colour, race or religion.
‘The fight against racism is not a cause, but a fundamental (battle for) change to wipe this type of crime from the planet.
‘I insist on saying that the punishments need to be more severe.’
Now Richarlison has hit out at the authorities for – in his view – failing to take this kind of isolated incident seriously enough.
He tweeted: “As long as they say ‘blah blah blah’ and don’t punish, it will continue like this, happening every day and everywhere. No time bro! #racismonão”
Enquanto ficarem de “blá blá blá” e não punirem, vai continuar assim, acontecendo todos os dias e por todos os cantos. Sem tempo, irmão! #racismonão pic.twitter.com/p8GqMPqUKa

Richarlison previously spoken out against racism, when at Premier League side Everton, recognising that ridding society of the everyday racism he encountered growing up in the Brazilian municipality of Nova Venecia represents an enduring and complex task.
“Racism is something we live with every day.
“It appears not only in words or in actions but also in disguise.
“It was racism when my friends and I went to play football in my city and someone called me bandit, when I hadn’t done anything to deserve that.
“But it’s also racism when people change sidewalks when they see a black man coming in the opposite direction.
“These are subtle things that show the scale of the problem.
“Everyone was very moved by what happened to George Floyd.
“It was shocking and very sad to see those images.
“It’s a good thing that this barbarism didn’t go unnoticed once again and people decided to protest and show their dissatisfaction with the authorities all over the world.
“This is extremely important.
“If it [racial abuse] happened to me, I would have no problem talking about it.
“But… in addition to giving a voice to the person who suffers from racism, the laws for those who commit this disgusting act need to be stricter.”

Fans gave their reaction as a video shows the moment Richarlison has a banana thrown at him after scoring for Brazil…
@NathanBarclay98: Do you understand how racist you have to be to make sure you bring a Banana to a football game just incase a black person scores? Insanity
@blueboyinspain (Replying to @richarlison97): Stay strong and together we will beat the racists
@whatkatydid_nxt: Pretty grim this but if the ‘punishments’ continue to be as inconsequential as they are, these bellends will keep on doing it.
@Crumpet1987: Love and solidarity to @richarlison97 We have to stand together against racism every day, on our football pitches, in our work places, in our schools and on the streets ✊🏿✊🏽✊🏾 #NoPlaceForRacism
@Mobyhaque1: Banana was thrown at Brazil players tonight. Not much has changed from the John Barnes days. Unacceptable in 2022.
@THFC_TG: Honestly richarlison doesn’t deserve any of this its so sad to see this type of behaviour
@JimmyCorden: This is a disgrace. Enough is enough. Take action, take serious action now.
@MrMattyjohnson: It’s 2022 and shit like this is still happening. Sickening
@myagraham: I’m really intrigued to see how the media decide to cover Richarlison getting a banana thrown at him compared to the outrage there was a few weeks ago when he did a few kick ups 🤔 The scummiest fan behaviour that is
@SpursyTV: I assume every single person who was angered by Richarlison doing kick-ups in a football match will be absolutely outraged when they see the video of him being racially abused. I expect a widespread, week-long reaction… 🤔 @richarlison97 with you king 👑 #COYS
@tesrobinson: Skilled footballer does 3 kick-ups: football media loses their minds, criticises his character, says he should be banned… Skilled footballer is racially abused: football media give 0 shits…
@RyanGoodo: Strange comparison. The kick ups were live on sky for the country to see, until you’ve posted this I’d guess a fraction have actually seen as wouldn’t have seen this game. That said, the banana thing is disgusting.
@Tams_THFC: This is spot on 👏🏻 not heard a word about it.. yet doing some keepy uppys on the pitch was talked about for days
@Dan_Rob09: Terrible shout this. Most people in THIS country won’t have watched this game.
@JamesB25CFC: Totally agree with this statement, disgusting behaviour. There seems to be a generation of people who’ve grown up with being able to do this on social media without having an consequences, thinking it’s okay and it’s funny it’s absolutely repulsive. More needs to be done!!!
@digsyred: Most of us don’t watch Brazil games, we’re English… but now I have seen it, I agree with you, it’s vile behaviour. But you can’t have a go at us for not seeing something we haven’t seen…
@APBallard: 100% those kick ups where in every sports outlet for 3 days with interviews from ex players and managers etc. and yet this incident is nowhere to be seen other than from yourself
