‘Unlike anything in football’ – Fulham unveil new Riverside Stand sky deck with rooftop pool

‘Unlike anything in football’ – Fulham unveil new Riverside Stand features including a luxury sky deck with a rooftop swimming pool.

Fulham has revealed their newly constructed Riverside Stand, which is set to officially fully open in April.

The redevelopment of Craven Cottage stadium was initially approved in 2012, but construction on the Riverside Stand began in 2019.

After a three-year closure, the lower tier was opened to the public in 2022.

Now, the upper tier is ready to welcome supporters and will provide a range of exceptional matchday experiences.

Fulham has provided a sneak peek of what fans can anticipate starting next month.

The Premier League club claims to have “redefined” the spectator experience with this redevelopment, offering seven distinct hospitality options in the Riverside Stand.

The Club has today unveiled a first look at the new matchday experiences inside our redeveloped Riverside Stand, which invite guests to mix with the stars, both on and off the pitch. Whether spectators want to get lost in the theatre of Premier League action, or take in panoramic views of the River Thames and the iconic London skyline with friends and colleagues from the breathtaking Sky Deck, this is the spectator experience: redefined.

Shahid Khan, Fulham Chairman, said: “My vision for the New Riverside Stand was to provide our fans, and our neighbourhood, with a destination that would continue to honour our history and tradition at Craven Cottage every day of the year, but especially so on matchdays with a premium experience that will be unlike anything in football, here in London or elsewhere. In short, today isn’t about finally being able to offer a higher standard of hospitality options that have essentially been unavailable to Fulham supporters until now. It’s about offering the ultimate matchday hospitality experience in the world that will also benefit the long-term promise and future of Fulham Football Club. The New Riverside Stand at Craven Cottage will make it possible.”

With matchday offerings to rival the best in the world, ticket holders can choose the package that suits them from 9th April. From fine dining inspired by Michelin Star chefs, to revelling in the pitch-side drama or soaking up the post-match atmosphere on the star-lined terrace, the full range of packages are available for the first time. This is London’s hottest new destination – a matchday experience that reflects the Club’s ambition to become a mainstay in the top tier of English football.

Part of the broader redevelopment of Fulham Pier, The Riverside puts spectators on the bank of the River Thames. Whether via the river walkway connecting the stadium with the local community, or the spectacular rooftop views of the city, the new array of game-changing matchday experiences has been designed to reflect the very best of the capital.

Seven different premium matchday experiences are available within The Riverside, and include:

Sky Deck makes up the top three floors of The Riverside and is home to an unrivalled range of social settings in stunning surroundings, alongside experiential food and drink pop-ups. The rooftop level features sweeping views across the River Thames and London’s skyline – taking the matchday experience to new heights.

The Gourmet is fine dining inspired by Michelin Star chefs at the Water’s Edge. A four course, à la carte menu, offering fine wines, champagne and cocktails, can be experienced inside or on the terrace overlooking the river.

The Brasserie offers a second Michelin Star dining experience with the best of both worlds. On one side, diners can take in the open-air riverside terrace and on the other, enjoy luxury seats on the halfway line, with unmatched views of the action on the pitch.

The Dugout – welcome to the most intimate football experience at Craven Cottage. Guests are sat directly behind the coaching staff, taking them into the thick of the action, as close as 3.5m from the touchline. Before or after the match, spectators can fall back into a stylish bar offering food, drink and enabled with immersive audio-visual technology.

From 9th April, these luxury matchday experiences will be available to fans for purchase. The Dugout, along with Fulham FC’s Matchday Plus offering – a premium general admission ticket – are scheduled to open in line with the kick-off of the 2024/25 Premier League season. The remaining Riverside experiences – including the Sky Deck – are scheduled to open in December 2024.

The design of the new Riverside Stand was led by renowned stadium architectural practice, Populous, which is based locally in Putney. The project was undertaken in collaboration with an engineering team from global engineering firm, WSP. To ensure the inside of the stand is as spectacular as the outside, the Club has partnered with several distinguished designers from across Europe including Lazaro Rosa VolanDion & ArlesStuart Forbes Associates and Music.

Philip Johnson, Senior Principal and Lead Architect for New Riverside Stand project at Populous, said: ”Our vision for the New Riverside Stand at Craven Cottage was to create a unique experience that has not been seen before, whether in the context of football or beyond. It’s a privilege to bring this innovative design to life, with amazing spaces set to house incredible experiences for fans and guests and a world-class terrace that will drive the atmosphere in the ground, all set in a unique location on the banks of the Thames. This project demonstrates new ways of designing individual stands, and we are proud to be part of the Club’s next chapter.”

The fit-out of the new stand has supported 2,750 jobs, with a strong emphasis on supporting local labour where possible. While the fit-out of internal spaces remains in progress, Fulham FC employs, on average, 100 people every day, due to rise to 200 as the project nears completion.

This is how fans reacted as Fulham unveil the new Riverside Stand features with a sky deck and a rooftop pool…

Tommy Houston: No it’s providing business partners and the super rich a novelty experience at football. FULHAM is no longer a club for the working class. Extortionate tkt prices and alienating proper supporters is what it does best

@FulhamTransfer: Looks stunning.

@AmbroseBarnaby: Looks pretty stunning

@Louie_JW_: Wow, looks expensive, I guess with all that revenue, season tickets and matchday prices can be reduced, right? RIGHT?

@mkasztelewicz: They’ve been rebuilding the Riverside Stand since 2019, how are they still at the “unveiling latest plans” stage

@samsonmcmuffin: Your prices are unparalleled. Bunch of elitist money grabbers who will be long gone along with the tourists when we get relegated

@RyanEvans29: This could make Fulham a true player in the league if they can draw what they are projecting.

Kevin Porter: A pool and Michelin Star food. eh. Anything for the ordinary working class punter who’s a dedicated fan and turned up to pay his or her money at the turnstile season after season? Or is lowest quality and hugely overpriced fare: suspect pies, greasy sausage rolls, reheated burgers, crisps, chocolate bars, insipid coffee and tea, fizzy pop, and gassy tasteless beer all plebs deserve? Still the corporate guests, dignitairies, VIP celebrities and foreign millionaires will enjoy the new facilities no doubt and that’s the main thing,

Tony Martin: Hope they have pies!

Claire Scurr: Is that to keep the WAGS occupied while the match is on???? 😮

@luke_ffc: Who the fuck is the pool for though

James Kalisz: They need to improve the food in the ground last time the crap sloppy hotdog that cost £9 was awful

Ed Carter: Only millionaires need apply

Nick Pottinger: I wonder if they can stretch finances to putting soap and hand towels in the Hammy End bogs ⚫️⚪️

@Sukki1975: #NUFC swimming pool!!! Swimming pool at a football ground? Destination Craven Cottage 😅

Ian Coles: Great. We can now fleece the billionaire locals (no problem with that). Now please let Marco get some new players in to strengthen the squad before he has enough and walks, and make ticket prices affordable again for the real fans.

@Ian_A_Woodcock: Just taking a quick dip after Erling Haaland makes it 3-0 to Man City after 40 mins

@dfitzgeralds: Football stadiums are only used for football around 20-25 times a season. This will be open 7 days a week and offers job opportunities.

Roy Harrop: Mortgages available on demand. 🤣

@Jairstone: Where abouts ya sat pal? “Deep end”
