The finished the 2019/20 season in 13th place, taking 42 points from 24 games before all remaining matches was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
AFC Telford United have turend the attention of their Go Fund Me Page towards a new campaign to Boost The Playing Budget as Gavin Cowan prepares for the new season over the coming weeks.
The club said: The Go Fund Page has now reached just over £1,800 which has helped the club since we closed the doors back in March following the outbreak of COVID-19.
The 2020/21 season promises to be one of the most difficult we have faced for some time and your continued support is vital to your football club as we continue to work very hard to make sure the longevity of the football club is maintained.
All of our income streams have dramatically reduced to virtually zero for over two months now and it’s almost certain as a business it will take some time to recover. Our Go Fund Me Page will allow us to solely donate the funds raised to help enhance Gavin’s playing budget for next season which has been reduced from last season due to so many unknowns that we currently face as a football club.
With the future being very uncertain, the football club does need continued financial help in the coming months. As you are all aware to run a sustainable football club at National League North level is very challenging. We do our very best to do this every season and we would like to ask supporters to keep supporting your football club during this period.
We never want to come cap in hand to our fans, but If you are fortunate enough to be in a position to invest into our Back The Bucks campaign it would help the Club massively to help Gavin prepare a squad that can be successful next season
Chairman Andy Pryce said: ‘The reaction to the go fund me page was brilliant and now being in this time of uncertainty we feel that by re launching the ‘Back the Bucks’ to help increase the playing budget where Supporters, Investors and Sponsors of AFC Telford United can help us directly on the pitch.’
Boss Gavin Cowan added: “As with many football clubs at our level, any support from the community is more than well received. In light of current affairs it means we need to pull everyone at AFC Telford United together more than ever. It is with great pride and honour that I am the Manager of this football club and know how much it means to so many. With that in mind, we are appealing to everyone who is able, to support us this coming season. I look forward to seeing everyone’s faces again soon”
