Stoke and Wigan fans fight at service station despite not even playing each other

Police were called to an motorway service station on Boxing Day after hearing reports of fighting.

Officers arrived at the Hilton Park Services to discover Stoke City and Wigan Athletic supporters fighting with each other despite the pair’s sides not even playing each other.

Earlier that day, the Potters lost 2-0 at Birmingham as did Wigan but at West Brom.

There are reports stating that there were some in fancy dress throwing bins at each other’s coaches.

@staffsresponse tweeted a photo of the scene along with the caption: “#WesternResponse repsonding to reports of disorder between Wigan and Stoke supporters at Hilton Park Services.

“Response, Inspector @staitie1 aswell as a Police van from @Police_PVFC.

“1 report of criminal damage. CCTV and phone footage being reviewed. 👮🏻‍♂️

“Only a matter of time.”

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “Officers from Staffordshire Police were called to a report of a disorder between football fans at Hilton Park services on the M6 Northbound just before 6.20pm yesterday.

“One coach was damaged in the disorder.”

One Wigan fan who seems to have made it known that he was there said…

No arrests are said to have been made yet but the police continue to ask those who know or witnessed what happened to let them know.
