Shrewsbury Town sack their manager

Yet another managerial sacking, this time Shrewsbury Town who have sacked John Askey this afternoon.

It comes with the Shropshire side 18th in the League One table and drew with National League side Salford City 1-1 in the FA Cup at the weekend.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Shrewsbury Town can confirm the club have parted company with manager John Askey.

Assistant manager, John Filan and first team coach George Pilkington have also left the club.

Shrewsbury Town would like to place on record it’s thanks to John, John and George for their hardwork and dedication during their time at the club, and we wish them all well for the future.

Danny Coyne will take charge of the Checkatrade Trophy trip to Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night.
