Shocking details emerge from former Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs’ assault charge on his now ex-girlfriend as court heard.

The Wales manager allegedly kicked his ex-girlfriend in the back and threw her naked out of their hotel room, a court has heard.

It’s well known that he has been accused of controlling and coercive behaviour against Kate Greville between August 2017 and November 2020, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

On Friday the 23rd of July, he appeared at Manchester Crown Court where he entered his plea and denied a second count that he assaulted the 36-year-old and that he caused her actual bodily harm at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester, in 2020.

Giggs, 47, is said to have deliberately head-butted his ex-girlfriend during the alleged incident and has since pleaded not guilty to the common assault by beating of his ex’s younger sister, Emma, in the same incident at the beginning of November 2020.

Details of his alleged controlling and coercive behaviour were read out in court which accused him of kicking Ms Greville in the back, throwing her out of their room at the Stafford Hotel in London and then chucking her bags at her after she accused him of flirting with other women.

Giggs is also alleged to have:

• Messaged Ms Greville or blocked her when she was on nights out with other people, or she asked him about his relationship with others

• Threatened to send emails about his sexual relationships and behaviour to her friends and employers

• Threw Ms Greville’s belongings out of his house when she questioned him about his relationship with other women

• Regularly turned up unannounced and uninvited to Ms Greville’s home, workplace and gym after she tried to break off the relationship

• Sent constant unwanted messages and made constant unwanted calls to her and her friends when she tried to break up with him

Giggs was charged with offences in April and he issued a statement at the time, saying: ‘I have full respect for the due process of law and understand the seriousness of the allegations. I will plead not guilty in court and look forward to clearing my name.’

Giggs will go on trial at Manchester Crown Court on the 24th of January and a further pre-trial hearing will take place at the same court on the 8th of October.

His bail was extended by the judge on the condition that he must not contact Kate or Emma Greville, or go to any address where they are.

Giggs won himself 64 international caps as a player and is on leave from his position as manager of Wales, with Rob Page taking charge as caretaker for the Euros.

In the 24 years Giggs had been at Old Trafford, the club won 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, four FA Cups and three League Cups, before he retired in 2014.

He is also a co-owner of League Two side Salford City, who seem to be struggling to win promotion to League One, sacking numerous managers alone the way.

Last week, it was revealed Giggs had found love with lingerie model Zara Charles, 33, who has ‘supported’ him through the legal case.

A source said: “Zara has been supporting Ryan over the last few months.

“She’s a great, upbeat girl. Ryan has been completely open with her about his situation. They seem very strong together.”

It’s also claimed that Giggs turned to his ex-wife Stacey, 41, for support as he waited to learn if he would face charges.

Giggs told a friend: “I’ve been in total shock, feeling numb and living in a fog since hearing I was going to be charged.”

He could face up to five years in jail if found guilty.

Giggs and Stacey, who is mum of his two children, split in 2016. She is now in a relationship with The Wanted singer Max George, 32.

A pal said: “Stacey has been a tower of strength — she’s been incredibly supportive.”
