Sheffield Wednesday supporter storms pitch at Lincoln to confront boss Steve Bruce

Steve Bruce has been confronted by one of his side’s supporters on the pitch during their pre-season game at Lincoln City.

It comes with the huge speculation that the manager could potentially leave the Owls to become the new Newcastle United manager, leaving the fanbase in dismay.

One disgruntled fan headed towards Brucey’s direction, only for stewards to quickly run onto the pitch, grab him and leave the field of play before then boos from the away end towards the unhappy supporters rang out.

BBC Sheffield journalist Adam Oxley on Twitter wrote: ‘More chants of ‘Steve Bruce Barmy Army’ at Sincil Bank as one fan is led away for confronting Bruce in the Sheffield Wednesday technical area.’

Despite the ugly scenes, Bruce was reportedly seen laughing with fans and signing autographs leading some to question his front if the Newcastle links are true.

Wednesday came out on top, winning the pre-season clash 3-1 but of course marred with what happened on the touchline.

Before the game, a fan stated: “Steve Bruce taking selfies with fans, chatting, smiling, sharing a joke as he comes out for the second half.

“Even in football, surely nobody could have that level of front?? I think we can safely say he’s staying….”

"Are we staying, Steve?"

A Sheffield Wednesday FC fan asked Steve Bruce if he was staying at the club, amid rumours…

“I’ve had a conversation with Newcastle, yes. Look, it has happened so quickly that I have got to take stock of the situation,” he said. “It’s in the hands of both clubs and we will see what develops over the next 24 to 48 hours.”
