Reading have been placed under a transfer embargo, and face further points deduction, however with new takeover bids made.
That is according to The Telegraph, with a report confirming the latest changes, with the English Football League expected to issue a statement on this.
Reading find themselves in even more of a financial crisis having been placed under a transfer embargo for failing to pay HMRC on time.
#ReadingFC placed under transfer embargo after failing to make HMRC payment and in danger of another points deduction if wages are not paid on Friday. Now the good news: 3-4 parties considering takeover bids. With @mcgrathmike https://t.co/hpLCAkfR0j

The report state they have missed another deadline for their tax to be paid, with the Royals now to be placed under restrictions by the EFL and are also facing a fourth winding up order.
Protests towards owner Dai Yongge are expected to continue, next at home to Burton, having already seen tennis balls thrown on the pitch in the game against Bolton.
The news gets bleaker, with another points deduction expected, should they fail to pay wages to players and staff come Friday.
There are calls for Yongge to sell the League One outfit after getting a total amount of 16 points deducted for breaching the EFL’s financial rules.
The glimmer of hope for Reading fans is that at least three parties are reportedly interest in buying the club in recent weeks with one of those currently in advanced negotiations the main concern though is how the points deductions are having an adverse effect on the club’s valuation.
The Telegraph add that the China based owner, is having difficulty moving money into England surrounding the government imposing limits on capital and he was charged last week with misconduct.
Yongge was charged by the EFL last week having failed to deposit 125% of the wage bill into an allocated account, and now failing to pay HMRC on time last week will see the club placed under a transfer embargo, a third time they have failed with a payment for tax.

CLUB STATEMENT (29th Sept 2023):
This is what fans are saying as Reading are placed under transfer embargo and face further points deduction with takeover bids made…
@Jamie_Hodder21: Get that chequebook out Gerry. 🇺🇸 #ReadingFC 🤞🏻
@thomasutrI: Football fans should get together and have a mass campaign this weekend. Ridiculous that Reading can continue to exist as a club whilst not paying debts… Let’s get #LiquidateReading trending! #ReadingFC
@tommy_docherty: We already have a transfer embargo for the next 3 windows. Would this be adding to those windows?
@OneFredOne: Another one.
@trebor_blue: There might be 3-4 parties considering takeover bids but how receptive is Dai to selling. I hope he has the sense to realise if he doesn’t sell soon he will get nothing if the club goes into administration
@DanTHFC1: When exactly is there going to be accountability for these clowns presiding over century old institutions being destroyed?
@AlexOne871: if the takeover happens then one more points deduction doesn’t matter since we’re not going up anyway. optimistic take: new owners, mid table finish an
@JDHWOLVES: Mental whats happened to them. Yet another example of owners tests failing and crooks tearing a club to pieces. Couldnt give two fucks about reading as a club but youve got to feel for the fans – theyre the ones who are punished ultimately
@HarrySmithF1: It’s a miserable existence supporting this club. What’s the point anymore #readingfc
@Buster_5265: We knew it was coming…….
@SMase75: Doesn’t make good reading for Reading.
@16BYBABYK33M: Disgusts me that football clubs, such as Reading, are allowed to exist despite failing to pay taxes! Football fans of REAL and HONEST clubs need to come together in order to #LiquidateReading. #Urzz #Ding #ReadingFC #PurpleTurtle
@maffff: So our embargo(?)/”transfer restrictions to 2015 (3rd window under appeal…. no news?) for delays in paying HMRC has been compounded with a full embargo. Now we can’t sign all the players we couldn’t sign. #ReadingFC There are levels to t̵h̵i̵s̵ ̵g̵a̵m̵e̵ these restrictions.
From where it all started to where we are now. The message is simple. #SellBeforeWeDai
It’s now or never, do or die. Together as one. Up the Ding. #readingfc pic.twitter.com/kZx0E5cD41
