Brighton & Hove Albion secured their second 1-1 draw of the day, this time against Charlton Athletic, despite having the better of proceedings in a pre-season friendly at The Valley.

A separate Albion XI had drawn with Portsmouth by the same scoreline earlier in the day, as Chris Hughton made full use of his squad with two matches against League One opposition.

Newcastle rescued a late 2-2 draw with Hull City courtesy of Ayoze Perez’s 86th-minute equaliser at the KCOM Stadium.

The Magpies took the lead after just 15 minutes when Joselu broke the deadlock, but goals either side of half time from Daniel Batty and Evandro saw the Tigers turn the game around.

It looked as though the Championship outfit might hold out, but Perez level things up and extend Newcastle’s unbeaten start to their pre-season campaign.

Crystal Palace midfielder Jonny Williams scored a first-half equaliser in Tuesday’s pre-season friendly.

The 24-year-old Wales international put them ahead just before half time to cancel out Alex Reid’s close-range strike at the Lamex Stadium.
