VIDEO: Premier League club wins 22-0 in pre-season friendly

Premier League Everton kicked off their pre-season with a stroll in the park win over Austrian side ATV Irdning.

They couldn’t have learned much from the game as the Blues scored 22 goals against a side from the fifth tier of Austrian football.

The halftime score was 10-0, excluding four disallowed goals as well. Cenk Tosun led the way with four, Ademola Lookman had three and Leighton Baines, Mason Holgate and Michael Keane split the others.

Manager Marco Silva kept only Kieran Dowell on for the second half, changing the rest of the side.

Mirallas came off the bench at half-time and had a hat-trick by the 52nd minute, scoring three goals in four minutes before adding his fourth seven minutes later.

The goal which saw Everton go 20-0 up:

By the end of the 90 minutes, the Merseysiders saw four separate players – Cenk Tosun, Ademola Lookman, Oumar Niasse and Kevin Mirallas – all scored hat-tricks, with Mirallas ending up with five goals to himself.

Even Everton tweeted their surprise of victory, tweeting:

The result means the Blues have broken a record which stood for 133 years which was a 14-0 win against New Ferry in the Liverpool Senior Cup back in 1885 – level with a win by the same scoreline against Notts Rangers five years later.

They will now go on to play Bury in midweek before travelling to Portugal to face Lille and Porto in the Algarve Cup next weekend as their pre-season continues.
