A player has escaped a broken arm after a nasty incident which saw Barrow AFC’s opening pre-season match against Furness Select abandoned.
The National League club had only been playing for four minutes when Jacob Blyth collided with an advertising board and wall.
In the 19th minute, play restarted with a trialist replacing the injured player.
Barrow were 1-0 up but the match was eventually called off as the ambulance arrived.
Blyth, suffered a dislocated shoulder and the game was called off after 33 minutes on the clock.
Due to the incident with the steel barrier and concrete floor yesterday next to the pitch, CT scans are clear but dislocated my shoulder. Couldn’t make it up? heavily due some luck soon, but I’ll be back in a few weeks! Thanks for all the support you’ve been brilliant ??

Barrow’s injury update statement read:
Following assessment in hospital we have a positive update on the injuries Jacob Blyth sustained in today’s friendly against a Furness Select XI.
It has been confirmed that Jacob suffered a dislocated shoulder after colliding with an advertising board and then a perimeter wall in the early stages of the game. His shoulder has been put back into place and is recovering well.
He has also had scans on his head in line with head injury protocols and they have come up all clear which is fantastic news. More good news is that whilst it was initially feared that he had also suffered a broken arm, no fractures were reported on his arm x-rays.
Further scans on his wrist look okay, but he will be having another scan next week.
We would like to thank both those who assisted at the game, and the fantastic staff at Furness General Hospital for their help.
We are grateful for all the messages of support sent to us for Jacob, we will make sure he gets to see them in the next day or so and continue to keep you updated.

Blyth signed for Barrow last month following an injury-hit spell with Motherwell.
The former Leicester City forward played only nine games for the Scottish Premiership side because of Achilles, thigh, ankle and foot injuries and left Fir Park in February.
