Nottingham Forest confirm manager has left the club

It has been confirmed this morning that Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka has left the club after just a year in the job.

He was appointed in January 2018 and has left the City Ground with the club 7th in the Championship table.

Recent bad form, no win in five games, saw Forest fall from 7th to 10th, but a 4-2 saw them climb back up to where they were and just four points off the playoff zone.

ClUB STATEMENT:

Aitor Karanka has asked to be released from his contract as the manager of Nottingham Forest Football Club.

The club have agreed to this request and the terms of departure have been agreed. Both parties wish each other every success for the future.

There will be no further comment from either party.

Simon Ireland will take charge of first-team affairs until a new manager is appointed.

Forest fans have taken to Twitter to reveal their frustration at the departure of Karanka, with many suggesting he was pushed out, some also speculated who could replace him – take a look at what they had to say on the next page.
