Norwich’s Shane Duffy has been charged with driving while unfit through drink after a two-vehicle crash, it has been confirmed.
The 32 year old was arrested in Hethersett, near Norwich, late on Monday and is due to appear before magistrates in Norwich in July.
Norwich City have since issued a statement, saying it was “aware of an incident involving one of its first team players”.

A spokesperson for Norfolk Police said: “Police were called to Queen’s Road, Hethersett, 21:05, on Monday 6 May, following reports of a two-vehicle collision.
“Emergency services attended the scene and a man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
“No-one was injured.”
Police were called to an incident on Queen’s Road in Hethersett, near Norwich, on Monday.
A spokesperson said Mr Duffy, of Norwich Common, Wymondham, was “charged with driving whilst unfit through drink, having provided an evidential breath sample of 102ugs”.
He is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on the 2nd of July.
A Norwich City spokesman said: “Norwich City Football Club is aware of an incident involving one of its first team players.
“The club is in the process of considering the matter internally in accordance with its own disciplinary procedure.”
Norwich Evening News report that: “No one was injured in Monday’s crash, after which Duffy was taken to Wymondham Police Station where he was charged with driving while unfit through drink.
“Police said he was breath tested and provided a sample of 102 microgrammes of alcohol, which is more than three times the legal limit of 35.”
This comes just days before Norwich begin their Championship playoff campaign against Leeds United on Sunday.
