Southern League Premier Division South side Hendon have vowed to continue their incredible offer to those suffering from loneliness or depression.
A year ago in the club’s newsletter, they announced that they would offer a free ticket to a home league game last season, which then captured the attention of the national media.
Ahead of their first home game against Metropolitan Police tonight, Hendon wrote on their social media page: “Our offer of free entry for anyone battling depression, loneliness, isolation or any other Mental Health condition remains for this season and beyond.
“Football can often provide some relief and respite for a couple of hours from the constant mental anguish one experiences.
“You don’t have to be diagnosed with an MH illness, you don’t have to be on meds or in therapy.
“Anyone, and that is anyone, who feels off kilter, not right, suffering from low mood – whatever it might be – is welcome to contact @HFC_Guv who will arrange entry.
“Many supporters at Hendon battle with their Mental Health in different ways and vouch for the positive impact watching a game of football can have on their state of mind, even for a couple of hours.
“We can’t offer a cure, we can offer a warm welcome and friendly faces.”
If you need help or are worried about someone else and want to talk about it, you can call the Samaritans free any time, from any phone on 116 123.
After finding out about the offer put forward by Hendon, fans took to praise them for the gesture but also wished other clubs also did the same type of thing – check out those replies on the next page.Like what the Fan Banter have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
