League Two side Cambridge United have goal nets eaten by rabbits their groundsmen revealed last month whilst they were getting their pitch prepared for one league game.
Groundsman Ian Darler noticed that bunnies had chewed through the bottom of the net whilst also leaving “other little gifts” in the goalmouth area.
Ground staff left hopping mad. Not an everyday event at @CambridgeUtdFC however while getting the pitch ready for the match against Stevenage on Saturday we found that rabbits had chewed their way through the nets overnight. Repairs have now been made by Ian Darler. pic.twitter.com/G1PCGEGTPU

Mr Darler revealed how he was able to tie it back together after getting inspiration from watching fishermen mend their nets.
The groundman, who has tended the ground for 41 years, said they get a collection of foxes and rabbits enjoying their own games on the pitch, which is situated near Stourbridge Common and the River Cam.
He said: “I was left hopping mad.
“The rabbits had left two big burrows in the goal mouth and the gift of some droppings as well as causing about £250 of damage to the net, which was new this season.
“Luckily, I have been watching a programme about Cornish fishermen mending their nets, and thought, ‘I can do that’.”
He added that his cable-tie crochet fix “could hardly be noticed” and should last until the end of the season.
Club mascot Marvin the Moose accused local rival Peterborough United’s giant bunny mascot, Peter Burrow, of trying to sabotage the club.
Fans also gave their reaction to finding out that the League Two side have goal nets eaten by rabbits…
At least the rabbits actually found the net.
